Holy Crap! 7 years!

It was 7 years ago that I signed up on this board. Damn. 7 years. If you were to ask me back then if I thought *this* board was going to be around in 7 years, I would have guessed "No." (as you know, many boards come and go)

I still remember exactly where I was when I signed up(I even remember the desk I was sitting at). Still going to the meetings; hadn't read CoC yet; blood issue was getting me pissed off at the WTS; just stopped giving talks; still was allowed to say prayers(very limited though). And I still have the same laptop backback from 7 years ago. That Targus just keeps on plugging along - sun faded and all.

So gimme some perspective -- how old were you back when the board first opened. What was your jw status, and what else was going on in your life 7 years ago?

I would have not even been on the internet then for fear Satan would grab me and mine and pull us through the screen to another dimension!!!

That's a long time! You must have seen a lot of changes here. 7 years ago I was 13, pre-baptism... good times. I'm pretty sure I didn't have the Internet then.

I must say 7 years is quite a milestone in the history of JWD. Congrats you're one of the oldest posters here. Has your hair turned grey yet?

Seven years ago I was "inactive" and newly divorced. And broke and supporting two kids. My family had already decided to shun me because I wasn't attending meetings and they thought I must have committed a sin. Nothing was further from the truth! My new "worldly" friends were a huge support and got me through the tough times. I still thought the wtbs might be right but knew I'd never go back. I was still three or so years away from discovering JWD.

A lot has happened; thanks for the thread Jourles!

7 years ago was the last meeting ever I went to. After that long deprogramming started that lasted well about 7 years. Only recently have I started feeling completely free from it all and looking it though fun side, but back then that was far from fun. Speaking of talks and prayers that was even earlier that I had any, more like 9-10, or even 11 years ago. Hell now that you mentioned it I can't even believe how much time had gone by since then...

7 years ago today, I was 21 and exactly two months away from becoming a mother for the first time. I was not interested in religion, leaning towards athiesm, and was living in the last 6 months of the PRE-JW me.
