..For all of you who logged onto my thread for all the wrong reasons ..Good for You!!..LOL!!.....The "bristle" dart board is considered the best dart board.Others are made of compressed paper or composition.The earliest dart boards were made of elm.....In very poor villages that had no wood.They would lay the Village Idiot over an empty beer barrel and use his bum for a dart board.As long as his beer glass was full he didn`t mind..Theres an advantage to using a Village Idiot`s bum as a dart board.You always know when you got a Bulls-Eye!The Village Idiot would get a very suprised look on his face,raise his shot glass and shout"Whu-Hoo!"..Anyone who got a bulls-eye had to buy the Village Idiot a shot of Whiskey..It was only fair..LOL!!.....When I went down to civilization this last time,all my friends were playing darts..I never thought much about darts before..I realized,you could take out someones eye..OR..Pierce the heart of a deranged Ninja Assasin..LOL!!..It was at that point,I wanted to get into the game..I Needed a Dart Board!.....A Village Idiot wandering around the Ranch with a bleeding bum didn`t appeal to me.(Although the Penguins would have loved it..LOL!!)..So I settled on a "Proffesional Winmau Blade#3" dart board(As seen on TV at the Lakeside World Championships&Winmau World Masters)..Then I needed darts..Gold Rush/22gram/90% tungsten/steel tip darts were the ones for me.....Now I`m looking for heavier darts.They should improve my aim..The cat won`t come in the room when I`m throwing darts..LOL!!.....A dart consists of the point,barrel,shaft and flight..Should I get a longer shaft,for a heavier dart?..If you have any tips or funny storys about playing darts please post them...OUTLAW

I used to play for Budlight Dart League. We couldn't use anything heavier than an 18 gr. I like the heavier ones, with the short shaft (darts only), with spinners!!

Cellist..LOL!!.....Crazyblondeb..I`m just getting into the game..I`ve only read about the spinning shafts,never seen them..I would think it would keep the dart more on target..I`m going to have a look when I go to the city again..Did you use a slim,or a standard flight?...OUTLAW

I used to shoot a 27 grain dart. I switched to a 30 grain with a hammer head and improved my shooting. Locally here in America, the pubs are going into a new type of board you shoot plastic tips at. Yuch.

It's not how long your shaft is .........its all in how you throw it!!!!!
I love playing darts.......actually play at a club I have been going to. I'm no expert but alot are.
I prefer the shorter shaft with the pretty flights attached

Should I get a longer shaft,for a heavier dart?
I asked Mike, my significant other, who has played a lot of darts and is very good. We have trophies all over the house. He says, "The best dart you can get is a black widow. They come with steel and soft tips. Just pick a higher gram. The shaft length is more about how it feels and fits in your hand, not about the weight. If you have a large hand you will probably want a longer dart. If your hands are small, a shorter one. If you are throwing at the dart board and your aim is high you will probably want a heavier dart, if it's low, a lighter one."
