Madame Quixote
In a cult religion that:
- doesn't allow anyone to celebrate or honor their loved one's birthdays
- doesn't celebrate any secular or religious/Christian holidays
- doesn't allow anyone to openly question doctrines
- doesn't allow children to be children
- promotes child abuse and neglect in favor of cult ideas and
- shuns members for accepting life-saving medical care like blood transfusions
- kicks out people for minor, human, every-day infractions of its multitudinous restrictions, like cigarette-smoking or drinking a bit too much?
NO WAY would there be any discontents or malcontents in such a fine organization as that one!

In my teenage years, till I left, I was the biggest misfit & malcontent person they knew. I'm sure they all breathed a sigh of relief when I was df'd, especially the second time!!

A most salient point, aniron!
MQ, humming the tune to, "Which one of these things doesn't belong," speaking of misfits.

They were always an equal opportunity cult. They would allow anyone to pedal their litterature.

I think when we were younger we tended to be a little more rebellious. But as we got older and life settled down, and we got stuck in the WT routine, we basically became WT drones. We got into a rut, just busy living a JW life, never really questioning anything. I'm reminded of a quote from the movie, The Truman Show: "We accept the reality of the world with which we are presented".
But there are some who remain enigmas in the JW world. I met a "brother" a year or so ago. A really nice and fun-loving guy who is not so apt to follow direction from above. He does what he wants when he wants, how he wants. Sometimes I wonder why he's still a Witness when he ends up frustrating elders with his non-chalant attitude about all things JW. I guess because he and his wife both come from large multi-generational JW families, he just goes along with the flow, but yet manages to not let the cultthink warp him too much. When I see him, I see hope for some who may still be able to break away from the control of the WTS.
