Property taxes on those buildings must be rather high. Better to sell them and build a larger buildings that are more functional than maintain them for a presence.
It's a sound financial move.

I don't think the WTS is required to pay property taxes as a religious, non-profit organization. I was told once that at Wallkill they have tried to be accommodating to the local government re using services, firefighting and water treatment are two that I think the WTS provides in-house.

still wondering
From what Iunderstand most buildings in the US do not have a 13th floor. Is this true also of the WTS buildings either in the USA or elsewhere? Just interested.

I remember hearing (from a DO or Bethelite or someone "important") that the "society" was going to slowly move things out of the city for safety when things got too bad near the big A. It's taken quiet a while because that was more than 20 years ago. Now they can safely make huge amounts of money from the sales.

Wow, what planet are you living on? Asking if the buildings in the US have 13th floor. You must be joking. I worked in downtown Chicago for years and every building that I had to go in to do my job had a 13th floor. Wow, I really hope you are joking.

Of course he is not joking - not a single hotel building in the US that I ever heard of has a 13th floor.
Just call and try and book a room.
