Are there any witnesses from Novi, MI who can tell us more? Inquiring minds want to know.

I wish there had been a millionaire in some of my old congregatons.

Maybe there were. I knew a brother for several years before a found out his net worth. He had inherited the money when his family sold the family business. He still drive the same car, lived in the same house, medium modest. Went a few more exotic trips but otherwise not much change.

Some JW millionaires though like to leak it; or have some synchophant do it do it for them.

JWs have always looked up to their successful and wealthy members as something "special." Elders usually like to "cozy up" to them undoubtedly because of the favors they receive. And the other members like to point out how successful or educated these members are. It's strange how the Watchtower discourages spending time on business and education when one should be in the ministry preaching....yet, its members seem to boast about those who have!

I realize this is an ancient discussion but for good reasons I'm wondering what the latest is on Patterson and his company?

Back in the very early 1960`s I became a believer very quickly and absorbed all I could in a very short time after about 18 months two years I had a fade for a short time .

During that fade the P.O. who was an Insurance salesman tried to sell me life insurance as he jumped to the conclusion I had rejected the religion which I hadn`t I just needed a break.

He didn` try to talk me back into the religion at all ,just sell me life insurance.

And that`s not all ,his brother was the Assistant overseer and a couple of weeks later he tried to do the same thing ,they both worked for the same Insurance company.

Of course I rejected their offer ,but why couldn`t I see the writing on the wall then ?

Both their parents were well off and influential in the congregation.

My then GF & I got back into the religion full bore and were married a year later in a neighboring KH with the wife of the Asst.Overseer playing the piano at our wedding .

Years later we learnt that the said Assist. OS was charged with child pornography and sentenced to jail and his wife committed suicide .

All of this occurred in Melbourne Victoria Australia many years ago. Central Congregation of Jehovah`s Witnesses

I hope not to have derailed this post but it had to do with insurance and I couldn`t resist it

In the UK. Back in the 60's..lots of dubs were "industrial" insurance agents. I was for a few years...United Friendly..easy hours..easy money
