A debt you owe to a bank can be "OFFSET" which means the bank can take any $$$ you have in a deposit account to "offset" the debt. This should be included in your account agreements.
The only exception to this is a CREDIT CARD debt can NOT be offset (unless the federal banking regulations have changed in the last couple years.)
