Welcome! And congrats for learning the truth about the truth.
Currently I am a ministerial servant and was told I was appointed to be an elder. I told the brothers I was not ready for that assignment.
You dodged a bullet. For me it was eye-opening when I became an elder. I went in with optimism and energy expecting to fix a lot of things and see jehovah's spirit in action. Ugh. Instead it was tons of paperwork, long meetings that usually accomplished nothing, and being required to kiss the CO's ass. It was awful.

Crisis of conscience is a good start. I always am leery of waking up by the actions of a few local idiots. There are plenty of good people in there too. the main thing is that the same could be said for every faith. there are moderates, and those that are extreme.
The difference is of course within this faith, the extreme views are held publicly....by the GB. So they are mainline views, that many just choose to ignore.
Continue to allow yourself to see things for how they really are (not how you have been trained to view them), and you will be surprised. or maybe not.

Welcome aboard Doctor Who, I'm looking forward to hearing more on your journey. There seems to be quite a few this week who are announcing they are waking up to TTATT. It's all good.
The average publisher hours required for one baptism is over 6000?, and I don't think it is taking that many hours of people looking into the "Truth" to wake up. LOL

Forgive me for being curious, you are 44, you are in the U.S., you have a degree, not married, just woke up, never heard of C of C. Your story is rather puzzling. Is it possible to provide the missing pieces of information to complement the known information and create a coherent narrative.
