Does the Proclaimers book really say that? Jeez. Do they also think the word "saint" comes from the word "Satan"? Or maybe it comes from "satin".

I no longer own the "Proclaimers" book but when I was studying we took a trip up to San Francisco and I read the whole thing cover to cover and asked my study conductor questions along the way.

This particular statement really made my blood boil. I kept on asking, "Who admitted it though?" She said, "I don't know but I'm sure they wouldn't just print it unless someone did." "But who is that someone? How do we know if it's true?"

I sincerely wanted to know. It was on the page talking about holidays and Christmas and had a picture of the Rutherford Bethelites celebrating Christmas.

    Can someone look it up?

The book by cardinal Newman is from 1878.

    It can be examined here:

Isn't it ironic that Dubs will not hesitate to tell someone that a WTB&TS teaching that is 5 years old is "old light," yet they will dig up these mouldy chestnuts and offer them as though they were yesterday's New York Times.

I have not yet searched through the text t see what exactly Newman (Newman!) said...

FWIW, here's a few quotes from a guy who grew up in a family of generational witches and is an "expert" on the occult. Take it or leave it:

    [...]
There is something else that must be pointed out about the snipers, and it connects them with the Skull and Bones' organization. We must bear in mind that in the world of the occult, there is what is known as REFLECTIVE POWER or MIRROR IMAGE POWER. One example is "red rum", which is murder spelled backwards. It is interesting to note that the rifle used by the snipers was the civilian version of the M-16 and is called a "Bushmaster" and uses a .223 caliber round of ammunition. (21) If we reverse the word order of Bushmaster, we have Master Bush, and reversing the numbers of the caliber of ammunition, we have 322, the sacred number of the Skull and Bones. Thus we have Master Bush of the 322. I have been threatened to not write what I have just written and have been told that a lot of things could happen to me, but my life is in the Lord's hands. When the Lord saved me out of witchcraft, he took all fear out of my heart and gave me the guts of a lion. The witches do not know what to do with me because they know I am telling the truth, and that I was once very much a part of their world. I am now covered with the saving power of the blood of Jesus Christ and humbly rely on His protection. http://www.detailshere.com/howclosearewetotheend.htm

Here's another quote of his on the same subject:

    [...]
In this world of electronic enslavement, Satan and his pulsating brain, also known as the worldwide web, control almost everyone with a set of three nine-digit numbers, or 999. The bank routing numbers for checking accounts are always nine digits. The full zip code now has nine digits. The social security number also has nine digits. How many transactions require these three nines? We must also remember that in the world of the occult words are often spelled backwards, and numbers are inverted or written upside down when possible. This is believed to amplify the power of the word or number. The word murder is written red-rum, which is its mirror image. The Freemason's mark sign of death to a traitor is the upside down double-headed axe, and there are many other such examples of inversions. Thus, the number of the beast, or 666, is inverted and becomes 999, and almost every American is ruled by these three, above mentioned, nine-digit numbers.

The author of those quotes is David J. Meyer of Last Trumpet Ministries: lasttrumpetministries.org , but his website is not searchable, so I found the quotes at other sites thru a google: http://www.biblebelievers.org.au/nl453.htm

He was saved out of witchcraft in his late teens, I believe, and eventually became a pastor and has been writing his newsletter for over 25 years. His bio here: http://www.lasttrumpetministries.org/docs/aboutdjm.html

Interestingly, the use of "REFLECTIVE POWER" is recommended at the very occult LUCIS TRUST website: http://www.lucistrust.org/en/service_activities/the_great_invocation__1/
    the_use_and_significance_of_the_great_invocation

    [...]
Concentrate upon the Invocation from the point of view that it embodies the divine intent and summarises the conclusions of the thinking of God. Concentrate your meditative thinking and your REFLECTIVE POWER upon them. Look for the UNDERLYING ABSTRACT IDEA in this Invocation. It is there. Use its phrases as "stepping-stones" to certain levels of thought not hitherto attained.

    Here's one that'll elicit a big laugh:

"A=6, b=12, c=18 and so on through the entire alphabet. ... Very few words add up to 666, but some of them that do are as follows: Santa Claus=666... " http://www.lasttrumpetministries.org/1997/Oct97.html
