My father's side of the fam is of German descent, the farthest back we got genealogy-wise was Matthias who came over from Bresden,Germany in the early 1700's but no other info so it's a dead end from there.
Somebody mentioned Bertram -- I have a brother named Bertram [bright] and Bert [bright and shining], for short.
Scully says Hayden -- we also have a brother named Haden (w/o the Y). And he was blond and just about as cute as your hunk there in that pic, lol. Of course that was 35 years ago!
Hmmm, I have a Baby Names book with 35,000 names, but I think all the websites probably have the same and easier to access for scrolling...
Here's one list (was this link chosen already?) http://www.babynames.org.uk/german-baby-names.htm
I picked out a few I liked, and put space around those for easier spotting... (I can't do bold w/Mac)

please do your son a favor and give him a standard first name and any kind of middle name you like. Then try to think of every possible way kids at school could twist the name or the initials to make something embarassing out of it. I used to have a JW friend who named her son Tucker - imagine what that kid will suffer in school. Also, it you look at the names of really successful people, they are the more ordinary names like John or James or William or (horrors) Donald.

THE END of ENGLISH boy names at this site: http://www.babycenter.com -
abbagail
Well, I'm totally cross-eyed by now, but I did also want to offer a few tips for baby-naming:
Never put your favorite name as the child's MIDDLE name so that you then have to call them by their MIDDLE name all their life, because from first grade onward they will have to explain to EVERYBODY who asks, and believe me, EVERYBODY asks:
"WHY do YOU go by YOUR MIDDLE name?"
Me in 1st grade: "I DUNNO! It wasn't MY IDEA!" :-/
and 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, all the way through school, friends, teachers, employers, no end to being asked this question a zillion times in life! Grrr!
Not to mention FILLING OUT FORMS which hardly ever provide a space for your MIDDLE name, but only your MIDDLE INITIAL, so everything that comes to you is printed in your FIRST name (which you barely recognize because you've never used it), and MIDDLE INITIAL, but since you write your signature since 1st grade with your Middle Name and Last Name, well, you get the drift. It's a screwed up life, LOL, when a person is called by their MIDDLE Name.
I've even seen Dear Abby and Ann Landers write about it several times over the years, LOL.
-----------------------
Another tip, and I understand many people do this, but if you give your child YOUR SAME NAME, and oh nellie, if you both ever live at the same address and get mail at the same address, and then the son/daughter moves and you try to do a change of address, the Post Office will screw up both of your mail for three years after the change of address! The son/daughter will get your mail, and you will get their mail, etc. etc.
Ask me how I know! lol.
-----------------------
And moving a little OLDER in age... if you're ever on Social Security at the same time (parent on SS and possibly child on SSD/disability, etc), wel FORGET IT. With the same name, the entire Big Brother Computer System will have you both screwed up forever!
I lived through that, too!
-----------------
LOL, by now every says, WHY didn't you just CHANGE YOUR NAME? Well, I thought of it and that's why I have a 35,000 baby name book, actually picked one out back around 1998, but the courthouse paperwork big hassle, expense, etc.
--------------
Anyhoo, much success on your choosing a baby name for your son!

SWALKER
Jez:
I like this name:
The boy's name Trenton \t-ren-ton, tr(e)-nton\ is of Old English origin, and its meaning is "Trent's town". Place name of a New Jersey city that was founded in the late 17thcentury by a group of Quakers under the leadership of William Trent. In 1776, during the AmericanRevolution, it was the site of an Americanvictory over the British and their Hessian mercenaries.
Trenton has 2 variant forms: Trenten and Trentin.
Baby names that sound like Trenton are Thornton and Tarrent.
Shortened version: Trent
I think it has a very masculine sound and not too easy to make fun of.
