Let’s take full advantage of the 1935 WT blunder.

It has occurred to me that we XJW’s may not be taking full advantage of the 1935 gaffe and admission in the May 1 Watchtower.

After all this is not just a change of doctrine, it is an admission (although they probably don’t realize it), that in 1935, Rutherford, their second president made a presumptuous , blasphemous announcement on behalf of Jesus Christ. He said, without any authority to do so, that Christ had stopped taking people into his Kingdom.

That’s very serious. Rutherford actually took it upon himself to stop people entering the Kingdom.

Does it remind you of Matt 23;13 "Woe to YOU, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because YOU shut up the kingdom of the heavens before men; for YOU yourselves do not go in, neither do YOU permit those on their way in to go in."

It wasn’t only Rutherford, the teaching was proclaimed as "spirit directed" by the "Faithful Slave" for the past 72 years. One could be disfellowshipped for rejecting it.

"Approved association with Jehovah’s Witnesses requires accepting the entire range of the true teachings of the Bible, including those Scriptural beliefs that are unique to Jehovah’s Witnesses".

So although they now admit they were completely wrong; for seventy years one could have been disfellowshipped for not accepting Rutherford’s arrogant assertion. They now admit he had no authority and there is nothing in scripture to back it up.

So would it not be reasonable to ask our JW friends and relatives: Could there be other of his announcements or teachings without the backing and support of Jesus or scripture?

It was an obvious blunder and one wonders how many dubs got expelled for pointing out that it was completely wrong. Probably Rutherfraud got that doctrine going as a way to control the dubs, all those of the supposed inferior class shouldn't have a say into how things were being run as they are not anointed with spirit. But no sane biblically informed person would believe that the 144 000 number is literal or that the great crowd are located on earth.

    Side note:

I brought up this subject several times to different ones in the congregation. The response I got was just about the same for each person.

With a glazed look on their face they said, "This shows we living at the very end of the final part of the last days."

    WHAT?????

(Credit goes to yesidid ) Watchtower-1986-April-1-pp.30-31 Questions From Readers Why have Jehovah's Witnesses disfellowshipped (excommunicated) for apostasy some who still profess belief in God, the Bible, and Jesus Christ? "Obviously, a basis for approved fellowship with Jehovah's Witnesses cannot rest merely on a belief in God, in the Bible, in Jesus Christ, and so forth." "Approved association with Jehovah's Witnesses requires accepting the entire range of the true teachings of the Bible, including those Scriptural beliefs that are unique to Jehovah's Witnesses." http://m1.freeshare.us/view/?134fs338112.jpg http://m1.freeshare.us/view/?134fs342291.jpg Cheers! If the JWs aren't disturbed by Rutheford's presumptuous predictions about 1918, 1925, and the statements he made at the 1941 St.Louis convention; I'm afraid that this will not bother them either.Remember: "New Light" is the magical lever that can wiggle the organization out of any doctrinal jam.

However, (and there is a big however) I think that this QFR article only confirms what the ex-JW community has been saying for decades - that the Faithful and Discreet Slave operating as a "Class" has always been a myth. If anyone says that the FDS Class (serving spiritual food to the domestics) includes all annointed Christians; one only has to point to this article and say "no it doesn't".

Arthur, This seems quite different to me. There is no "New light". It's just an admission that Rutherford, on his say-so alone, tried to close the door to heaven.

Trying to close heaven’s door seems much more serious than a prediction or an interpretation.
