I went to the coffee shop this morning to get my double shot. So I'm sitting there and flipping through the morning's newspaper, then it hit me that I can't focus on reading because my brain was subconsciously picking some noise, a repeating sound of something. Yup you've guessed it right. L I K E. Five teenage girls talking about their latest conquests. Great.
Mind you when you tuned into, it was quite funny to listen to. So I started counting how many times it came up in sentence. Between five of them, in those 6-7 minutes while waiting for coffee, they've used it no less than 35 times, lol. And then you thought that the word THE was the most boring and most repeated word in English, think again.
The funny thing was there were some Asian ladies there too talking to someone, though with limited English I could still understand them clearly and didn't notice a single LIKE in there.
Just wondering if English grammar is like screwed for like good with these new trends and what does that like mean for like future. Your thought would be like appreciated too. ;)
