It was simple marketing strategy to enhance their power structure which in turn helped to build their kingdom.............it worked.

I respectfully disagree. First of all, for anyone to feel that they alone have the ability to interpret scripture is beyond arrogant. To feel that they alone can interpret Revelations is dellusional. When reading "The Finished Mystery" line for line anyone can see the utter nonsense of that book.
You make a very good point. The words you used: delusional and arrogant are quite accurate in my opinion. The key word is delusional. This is why I believe, they can teach such nonsense without feeling any impropriety about it. That is why, in my opinion, they are not lying; but are deluded by their own sense of self-importance. When Steven Hassan wrote about various Bible cults he had studied, he commented that many of the leaders were so deluded that they believed their own irrational teachings. It was this quality that made them so convincing to their followers.
As far as arrogance is concerned, I truly do believe that it is arrogant to place an organization and a class of humans (i.e. "John Class") into the role of mediator. The organization has become an idol in that it is elevated to Christ-like status (mediator, salvation, the truth, the way, and the light).

Arthur..I can see that Russell certainly fits...Rutherford may have become that...but how do the other posers...the GB who know full well that they aren't the channel and that the FSD is made up, come out with their own deluded BS. In other words the GB clearly knows that they are not God's channel filled with the ability to divinely interpret scripture. I'm sure that they are fully aware that they are just the board of directors of a business that happens to be religious in nature.

I personally do not believe that the WTS is lying about many of their teachings, because I think that they truly believe their own rhetoric.
I also disagree.
The "seven trumpet blasts" was my final straw as a witness. The tortured writing required to put forth this convoluted scenario could not be done without conscious dissembling. The entire history of the world as a mere backdrop for the bumbling actitivities of the International Bible Students? Puh-leese! Reading this drivel at the time was hard enough, but can you imagine writing it? No, those at the WTS with final decision-making authority know exactly what they are doing. Arthur, haven't you read Crisis of Conscience?

Honesty
Better watch it!!!
Jehovah's true prophets will soon call for another Trumpet Blast to deal with all you evil slaves who have rejected Jehovah and turned your backs on him as he leads his one true organization to a victorious victory against Jesus and his followers.

It's supposed to have been, according to wts doctrine, to have been fulfilled by the
7 conventions of jws held between 1922 and 1928http://www.reexamine.org/quotes/trumpet_blasts.htm
The jws were studying the revelation book when I first joined, and I just accepted
the teaching at the time, but thinking about it later, when I'd read the account in
Revelation 8, it seemed to me that these trumpet blasts would be heard throughout
the world. I doubt if everyone in the USA had heard of the jws, or bible students as
they were then known, in the 1920's, so 7 insignificant conventions just didn't seem
to fit the bill for fulfillment of such a prophecy for me. I doubt the "blasts" were heard
in places like China, India, Russia etc somehow.dedpoet
