It's surprising coming from a very conservative institution but the Catholics have a lot more things that need to be changed above all the supremacy of the pope which is clearly based on the then status of Rome as a world power rather than Saint Peter giving the bishops of Rome such a privilege. That was the time when the church was becoming obviously secular with the bishops of the largest and most prestigious cities (Rome, Alexandria, Antioch and soon Constantinople) claiming special status, the title of patriarch or pope.

WTS reversing a previous doctrine - ' Some Christians used to believe x'

RCC reversing a previous doctrine - 'WE used to teach x'

    Winner: RCC

Yes, and don't forget to insult those "some Christians" for being gullible enough to think that, for example, a generation would mean a literal 70-80 years, or 1975 would be the start of Christ's Millennial Reign! Yes, how ignorant they were! Certainly we would not like to be like those who had a false understanding. They were foolish and did not follow the Lamb wherever he goes. Now he goes here. Now he goes back to what he used to think. Better march in step! And better not march too fast, because then you'll be stepping ahead of the Organization, too!

Yes, their intellectual dishonesty is horrific. Blame the flock for taking seriously your delusional theological ramblings! Thanks DanTheManand SirNose586!

I, too think the WT will jump on this change to try on put the Catholic church in a negative light- they never miss a chance to jump on Rutherford's old nemisis. And I hope it backfires on them at the door when householders ask about their changes in WT dogma-"isn't that the same thing you are accusing the Pope of doing, Mr JW?" I can't wait to see the WT cover in a few months mocking how Limbo has been emptied out.

Heh so Rutherford had beef with the RCC? No wonder they often like to poke at Catholics and ignore more liberal christian groups. Also a lot of JWs were once Catholic.

Limbo has never been a tenet of the Catholic Church. Different theologians, at different times, have expressed their opinions as to what they believed was the fate of unbaptized children and infants and these beliefs were circulated. But it was always an open-ended question. Even this document is not an authoritative pronouncement of the Church. A papal encyclical carries more weight.
