when i was growing up as JW we allways had winter cake, My mum and dad when smoking was ok would allways get at least a thousand fags from taylor woodrow they worked for and bottles of spirits , we allways had turkey because i was told its cheaper to buy at christmas,allways except the christmas greetings from folk.

My first girl friend who was a JW was black ,i was encouraged not to go out with her, .

big joke at assemblys among some teenage JWs ,who did you deflower last night, and what a skin fall we had.

In my twentys as a JW , 2 of my friends who were seeing each other had sex for 6 months they got a public reprove .

My stepdaugter had a baby out of wedlock , her grandfather whos a elder JW got the commitee hearing moved to another congregation , she got a reprove.they thought she was so sorry after only come to 3 meetings. after 2 weeks of the hearing she was never back at the meetings.the real reason for the grandfathers working ,they didnt want to lose a grand daughter,and now would visit them on a regular basis with her bastard child this was all ok .

And now me, when my Ex wife put me out of my home who was as me baptized JWs , there was no infedelity. I was homeless and had to go into a dirty B+B ,Had a nervous breakdown , lost my job, my home, she took all my personal things i just had a suit case , so i started a 6 week bing of alchol to kill my self drinking a bottle of vodka and 4 extra strong largers each day ,6 weeks later im in dumfries criton mental hospital they are boiling my clothes im on constant watch for suicide, i could not walk for three days, the only person who came to see me was my mother, My wife never visited me, and also the elders of dalbeattie kingdom hall, there reason as new elders had moved in at that time to dalbeattie we did not know you stephen, I had to ask a catholic vicar to read some scriptures to me,.

I came out of hospitial 2 weeks later back to the B+B, still recovering from my break down , 2 weeks later i was asked to come to the kingdom hall for a chat , that night i was dissfellowshiped for getting drunk.where is the love and comppasion ,all this happened in a 10 week period.

I stayed away for 3 years then got reanstated only after staying of the drink for ten months ,at 50 meetings, I thought life would be better now was i so wrong .

My Ex wife had been dissfellowshiped for adultry , Her mum and dad who were now my EX inlaws started there campain of makeing my life diffilcult in the Kh . John frew who his her father and still the congregation presiding overseer made my life hell . to much to tell it was horriable there excauce the loss of there daughter , I was to blame.

I managed to last 2 years .got dissfellowshiped christmas 2006 for smokeing for 4 weeks . THANK GOD .

In the same vain "I can't except your christian tract about being saved, but will you accept my tract about being saved...in the new system?"

The elders and parents can listen to the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and so forth with all their references, but we can't listen to newer bands regardless of what their references are about (which was really hypocritical for me because elders listened to Aerosmith, and I listened to Straight Edge bands talking about not doing drugs). I'm sure it was the same thing back in the day for the previous generation who's parents could listen to the Rat Pack with all their references but they couldn't listen to Elvis.

You're forced to read about the atrocities committed by the Israelites in the Old Testiment, but you can't see an R rated movie (and in some cases a PG-13 rated movie).

You can't risk your life by bunjee jumping, sky diving, street louging (and in some places skateboarding) because you mustn't put Jehovah to the test, but feel free to go anywhere in the door to door work even with severe tresspassing signs or a sign saying "This property Protected by Satan" because Jehovah will protect you.

Beards.... do I really need to explain further LOL.

You should be willing to die for your brother during persecution, but turn him into the elders at the slightest violation of JW protocol.

When a congregation of born again christians sings praises to Jesus it's creepy, when a congregation sings those same songs (with Jehovah inserted wherever Jesus is) it's encouraging.

Finding a Watchtower at a Doctor's office that another witness placed makes you excited, finding a Christian leaflet or magazine at the same Doctor's office makes you annoyed.

You wonder aloud how people can just slam the door in your face in the ministry so rudely saying their not interested when you go door to door, but when a Mormon comes to your door you slam the door quickly and say you're not interested.

You critisize Hari Krishnas, Mormons, and the former Heaven's Gate members for their specific cult like grooming techniques making them all look the same as you're getting your hair cut the same way the CO, PO and most of the other elder's have their hair cut (parted on the side, short w/ no sideburns).

Counselling young ones that drinking during college is given to an excess and not in line with bibical principles (therefore you cannot go to college) meanwhile telling them the drinking at Bethel is in line with bibical principles because "a little wine is good for the stomach".

I always loved it when Brother No Way I'll Ever Pioneer gives the counsel to pioneer if it's at all possible.

I also loved hearing youth Bethelites tell families how they should act, especially the husbands/fathers & wives/mothers.

As an elder out in the door to door work I could accept apostate literature, the rank and file could not.

We could give them apostate literature, but, don't dare accept apostate literature from them.

We are there to preach to them. They are not to preach to us.

Blueblades, that always bothered me. We go through ALL this trouble to GET people to reconsider THEIR religion, but we cannot check on our own, or even accept another religion's literature at the door.

YOU, be open minded but I'll stand here on your doorstep with a closed one.

An elder I knew actually had a statue of Buddha in his home.

It's wrong to buy Easter candy or Valentines candy for the holiday, but OK to buy it on sale after the holiday.

We have unparalleled love for one another, but we don't have time to visit the sick or the elderly in our congregation. Got to get our servoce time in. We'll even drive past the house of an elderly witness who can't make it to meetings but call on their neighbors because the neighbors are the ones who have no "hope." I say "we" because I've done it too!

They will take advantage of any kind of social services that is offered, yet will not support this country in anything, such as military duty. This is an extreme sore point with my husband, especially during 2005 when his son was in Iraq.

What's worse? Following a religious group or cult blindly or following the government you live under blindly. Both get you killed and if either is acting wrong, you share in their sins. Bush probably should be impeached and held accountable as a war criminal...very sad for those who gave their lives to this war. OC
