Philo's logos, in a relatively open monotheistic setting,is (already) the Firstborn Son of God, the image of God, the reflection of his glory, and the maker of the kosmos. Which a Christian could readily assess as a remarkably "high Christology" without a "Christ" to fit in.

Now that you mention it....Philo could have invented Jesus' role single-handedly with the help of some co-operative and attentive promulgators.

Clearly, the idea was in place. All it took was some resourceful thinkers/writers to get the rap going to the right beat.

    Thanks, Narkissos

Lets face it, if Terry dressed himself in a pair of soiled cami-knickers and ran through his local mall attacking senior citizens with sharpened gherkins and singing the Gettysburg Address in Yiddish, you would find it inspiring

Hey---having you been spying on me?? That wasn't a gherkin, by the way.

...Now Jericho was securely shut up because of the children of Israel; none went out, and none came in (Joshua 6:1)...

And the LORD said to Joshua: "See! I have given Jericho into your hand, its "king" and the mighty men of valor!"

And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, a Man stood opposite him with His sword drawn in His hand. And Joshua went to him and said to him, "Are you for us or for our adversaries?"

So he said, "No, but as Commander of the army of the LORD I have now come."

And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and paid obeisance, and said to him, "What does my Lord say to His servant?"

Then the commander of the LORD'S army said to Joshua, "Take your sandal off your foot, for the place where you stand is holy."

And Joshua did so. (Joshua 5:13-15)

    AMEN

I think you would be well advised to make sure that your gherkin is well protected. HS

I'll stay cool as a cucumber so I won't find myself in a pickle. (Bada-bing)
