By rejecting the Nicene Creed, they don't at all meet the criteria for orthodox Christianity (not to be confused with the Orthodox Church). By that definition, they are not even Christian.

Based on a timeline and doctrinal origins, the Witnesses are definitely in the Protestant branch, the Adventists and the Millenialists.
The Witnesses claim their origins pre-Catholic because of their rejection of the doctrine of the Trinity, but they also deny belonging to the two other major groups at the time, the Arians and the Gnostics.
