"No Smoking".... it defiles your body and goes against scripture.

So as a witness, when pushing this train of thought, did it ever occur to anyone that when ever you dug in to those fried eggs, bacon cheeseburgers, and gallons of icecream, you were doing the same exact thing?

Smoking over a long period of time can kill you. Eating artery congesting foods over a long period of time can kill you. Same outcome. So if you knew the risks of eating all that, why was 1 ok, and the other not? Surely not the excuse, "well we need food to live".

No that's not applying proper knowledge. You know there's always been alternative "proper" healthy foods for the human body, but the high cholestoral, high fat foods is what was put into your body.

I'm not attacking anyone who has eaten like this...just questioning the hypocricy. Excuse any mis-spellings, thanks!

I totally agree with your logic, Notaness. Also, gluttony was listed as a sin just like drunkenness, but have you ever heard of anyone being disfellowshipped or even counselled for it?

I started a thread a few months back about obesity being a defilement of the flesh. I know alot of very heavy JW's that do not see that as a defilement of the flesh even though it is just as dangerous to your health as smoking is.

    Blatant hypocrisy!

My excuse was you have to eat or you die. No one has to smoke. One or two cigarettes, it is probably no worse for you, than that double cheese burger. Doesn't the Bible saw moderation in all things. Yes, you are defiling your body if you eat too much and that you can not hide. We all need self-control.

That would require common sense and logic, the Borg is devoid of both.

One characteristic of the org. is judging others and condemning them. Sometimes we carry that negative habit with us right out of the organization. If YOU smoke or overeat, you deal with your problem. Leave everyone else alone. It's hard enough to try to overcome those problems without being called a hypocrite. Smoking is addictive and very hard to overcome. The fact that overweight people go on many diets in their lifetimes, and still gain the weight back shows that food addiction is extremely hard to overcome too. Let's all cut everyone some slack and hope they do the same for us.

I would reckon that forbidding young people to have sexual release would rank up there with defilement as well.
