And if Liverpool play like they did last night I don't reckon their chances are much better in the final either!

I think liverpool played a great game last night. Milan are favourites in the final (and they will be thirsty for revenge), but I hope liverpool will make it again. Rafa is great!

Rafa was lucky against Chelski. He played for penalties and it payed off for them. When I watched that game, it came to my attention how mediocre Liverpool are compared to sides like Chelsea.
Milan got their tactics spot on against Man Utd, they attacked and didn't give them an inch - you can't sit back and defend against United. Kaka is true class and in Gattuso they have in my opinion the best defensive midfielder in the world. Carrick is a mere boy in comparison.
That being said the final will be close and it wouldn't surprise me if Rafa pulled off a tactical masterstroke - although it wasn't his tactics that won in 2005, it was players like Gerrard.

Well done AC Milan.
This past fortnight, as per usual it's been said that since Man U are an English team, everybody in the country should suddenly support them . No thanks You have to be consistent.

Exactly what I was thinking when I wrote my first reply last night but my brain wasn't functioning by the time JeanV replied!!
I tend to find most Premiership football pretty mediocre - it seems to be more about tactics than playing the game - you go to the lower leagues and you see football being played - I suspect that's why smaller clubs such as Reading get into the Premiership and cause havoc - the same with giantkillings in the FA cup - take a game to the big teams and they're stumped - a bit like Man U last night perhaps?
I do hope Liverpool win the final, I'd prefer that to an Italian club!

Yes, I was just saying how I could probably count 10 players who are giants in the game today, and the rest just make up the numbers really. I seriously considering taking football up sometimes, but I see some jokers on just 2 grand a week playing for clubs like Lincoln and I think to myself 'is he any better than me?' - and that's saying something.
As regards Liverpool and Chelski, I was hoping Liverpool would win, but as the game went on, I found myself past caring who won, basically because of Liverpool's negative tactics. I doubt Milan will make the same mistakes as in 2005, so I guess they will play defensive football - as will Liverpool.
But then, what do I know? I once put on a bet that the Americans would win the World cup in 2006.

I think we watched a different game or maybe is just because I am a liverpool fan
Chelski played with the sole objective of scoring on a break away. It is obvious that liverpool cannot attack their heads down. games nowdays are a lot about tactics (which ManU IMO failed miserably last night)
anyway, chelski had one or two opportunities. liverpool had several ones (and a disallowed goal that I thought was legitimate). Physically chelski were stronger and the more time passed the more liverpool had to be careful not to lose silly balls. so yes, they played tactically well, but not to go to penalties, although they clearly were careful not to give the ball away. Rafa does not have the quality players of milan, manU or chelski so he has to make up for it with good team spirit and tactics.
milan will likely win the final, but I hope not.
