Former elders: need some info

When a publisher has just moved into a new cong, I understand that the secretary sends a request to the pubs former cong requesting their info and records. Is this a WT form or just a regular typed letter? If it's a regular letter does it have to be on WT stationary to be legit?

Can someone fill me in on this? I'm trying to remove all traces of my existence from my former congregation. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

As far as I know, this is an informal matter, regular stationary is acceptable.

Having authored many of them I can confirm that as stated it is informal. Some congregations designed a local letterhead and this is OK but not required. It should never be on WT letterhead as that is not the congregation's corporation logo.

Usually it starts with a phone call. Call up the presiding overseer of the congregation to get the name and phone number of their congregation's secretary. Talk to the secretary and make a few passing inquiries about the type of individual, then finish up with a formal written request to follow procedure.

    Easy as pie.

It's a regular letter, printed off the secretary's or the cong. computer. Many have their own
letterhead, but not necessarily. Someone on this site is a congregation secretary or has the
ability to make your records seem to go to the right place, but really come to him, then he
can send them to you or the shredder.

More: you could quite easily get the correct address and perhaps the correct name for the
secretary. You might even find the correct cong. number, then send a letter wth all the
right information, requesting the records forwarded to your PO Box or other bogus address.
You pick the records up, cancel the PO Box later, and you are gone. Nobody is responsible
    for shepherding you.

If you have JW family, they could blow your cover by asking questions about your involvement
in the organization- where you go, when you've been. They could ask the local dubs to stop by
your address and help you out.

If you don't have anybody who cares if you go, then why care where your records are?

I just found out that when a publisher moves in to a new congregation, the secretary of the new congregation actually has to pick up the phone and call the former cong's secretary to request the paperwork.

Now I'm wondering, has any elder/ex-elder here had a case where they didn't have to make a phone call but made the request with just a letter? Would the secretary of the old cong find that unusual?

    Also, OntheWayOut said:

Is anyone here in a position to help me out with this?

    Thx.

In the spirit of cooperation, it was told to the secretaries that if they were close by somewgat, to make a phonecall and get the process started. The complaint was that if a secretary didn't get the records via letter request that some secretaries would not send anything including a letter of intrioduction. A person could be in a Hall for many months and "officially" not be considered a member of that congregation.

it starts with a phone call. You only write an informal letter when, after several phone calls, no letter/records are received.
