Tobacco is more profitable than ever.

On the same comparison, the tobacco industry is losing their customer base in the USA
and other countries. They are dying and quitting. They are profiting there, but they know the future
customer base will be smaller. They are placing greater efforts in expanding into new
markets in countries around the world, where anti-smoking sentiment has not caught on.
People who love smoking really love those American cigarettes.

This is just like WTS. The American customer base is dying and quitting. Their efforts go to
new markets. Eventually, these new markets will dry up, too. Meanwhile, their lawsuits are
possibly worse than Tobacco had to face.

"no weapon formed against you will succeed"

No wonder the WTS wanted to settle, rather than raise questions in the minds of the rank and file, trying to explain away how they lost court cases. The WTS may be underhanded, but they are not stupid. It seems that they listen carefully to leagal counsel, and heed well. Of course, maybe they also had "new light" or more "insight" on how to handle cases once they recieved counsel from the lawyers .

Perhaps neither of these two groups but instead some other unseen power that we don't know of, for a while now the GB have authority over just legal matters. I wonder who knows what the overall financial accounts of the corporation are like, that will be someone with real authority.

The Watch Tower Corporation holds the record in the United States for trying cases in the United States Supreme Court. (A politically neutral Watch Tower Corporation holds the record for being politically active.) Rutherford was the last Governing Body member to get in the fights himself.

We had a kid in school who was in the vicinity of a lot of fights, a LOT of fights. It didn't take the school principle long to figure out why the kid was showing up at so many fights. He was starting them.

The Last Watch Tower Corporation official to run things was Knorr before the Governing Body voted to give themselves committee power and to rotate the chairman.

When's the last time we saw a Governing Body member show up in court? The branch committee and their attorneys actually seems to be running things in the United States since 2000. It's been fun to watch them try to make the old model work. It's like they're all standing around whipping a dead horse.

I gotta think they'll dump the old model rather than let it sink them. Historically they have been reactive and now's the time to react. One problem they have now is they are SO TOP HEAVY! They've become their own political enemy. They're used to having 10 or 12 years to test change in places like Germany and Canada and them phase it into the United States and the rest of the branches. They don't have 10 years. This sucker's stalled.

They have real challenges and they have to face them. Information control is done. They have lost that battle. Enforced compliance is ready to fall apart. If ya kick your own dog, he won't hunt for ya and that's what they're doing. That's almost done. If you kick your own dog long enough, eventually he'll get up and come after ya. Cash sales ended in 1990. Now they have a strictly donation driven business and dissatisfied and unhappy people make poor cash cows.

Fear of Armageddon is playing like a worn out Judge Rutherford 78 rpm phonograph record. That old rant is wasted on many Witnesses today. Many younger than me have lived through half a dozen pretty major disconfirmations. What they see and what they hear don't match and they know it. What does the Society have to offer anybody with a brain today? It's a boring social club with a celibacy clause.

They'll keep the defectives and the idiots. There still seems to be plenty of them wandering about the planet. The current leaders and their 50 year old new boy babies should have enough money to last them their lives, so they shouldn't have to worry about having to go out and get a real job.
