I have been speaking to my mom about the WBTS a lot lately. Last night while discussing the fact that 1914 is now missing from the "Awake" masthead (something she never noticed ) she told me I should write to the GB and ask them why they made a promise in God's name and then changed it with out even an "oops sorry we stuffed up". I got her to agree that God cannot be happy about it, and that God does not change His promises and the GB are wrong to have done this. This was a major break through unitl she said that she will wait on Jah to sort it out!!!!

She thinks if I write to the GB they will send me a nice neat explenation and that it will all be better and she then can go on thinking that the JW have it all!

I think I should write to them and then when I don't get an answer or they send the elders after me I can tell my mom what their response was!

    What do you think?

    Mrs Smith:

I do sympathise - I have a similar problem. This i will say though, as the expression goes "there's none so blind as they who will not see"; your mother, as with so many others, won't see because she doesn't want to. I doubt if you can batter down the doors to her mind. It may happen one day when a crisis of some sort occurs in her life - then the scales may fall from her eyes. Look forward to that day!.

    Ask her to write herself.

She KNOWS she's not an apostate so whats the problem?

She probably wants to remain apostate-free and that's why she can't write to the Faithful Slave asking them to explain anything they do.

If she wasn't stumbled by the WT article in 1995, the response from the Service Desk
(not the GB) will do no more. You will see their response for what it is, and she will see
it as a valid explanation. Both of you will say "See, I told ya."

You have already pointed it out to her. Tell her that you are satisfied that they claim to
represent God, and that they claim promises in His name, then say they aren't
(false) prophets. You are satisfied that they have inconsistency.

Yes because asking the good ole FDS a straight forward question immediately makes you an apostate doesn't it

I wish I could shake all the jw out of her! She keeps on jumping from one topic ton another and feel like a ref trying to keep the topic going. As soon as she can't answer a question she jumps on to another topic! All I really wanted to do was plant that seed of doubt anf I'm sure I've done that. When she said that she will wait for Jah to sort it out I asked how long she will wait? She just said "we'll see". See what I don't know. She tells me how many studies she has and how much she enjoys pioneering!! I wish she would stop wasting her time. I'm so frustrated I think I'm going to give it a break, I don't have the strength to reason with her anymore.

How do you all cope with family that are still in the borg? Am I wasting my time trying to get her out?

Mrs Smith frustrated and feeling like throwing a huge hissy fit!!!!!!

    Mrs Smith.

I really do sympathize with you and your dilema.I used to feel angry and frustrated when my wife could not see past the deception and illogical reasoning.Remember these people have been indoctrinated over many years. It truly is hard to tear down the walls the WTS has built up.

Just hang in there. As I said in another post, "Baby Steps"

Mrs. Smith, I would write to the society and then post the reply on the internet. Reading answers from the society has helped me a lot in realising they do not have the truth.

She has a very romantic and idealised view of the GB, they don't like followers asking annoying questions that imply they are a bunch of cynical impostors. Of course they never apologised to thousands of JWs that had their lives badly messed up by believing in a literal 1914 generation due to the false teachings of the FDS.
