    Hi

Reading through a thread http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/133948/1.ashx apoint being discussed was whether the WT has told people to hate others. I thought these quotes may be of value.

    WT 1961 15th July page 420

When a person persists in a way of badness after knowing what is right, when the bad becomes so ingrained that it is an inseparable part of his make-up, then in order to hate what is bad a Christian must hate the person with whom the badness is inseparably linked

    Watchtower 1952 1st October page 599

    11

Haters of God and his people are to be hated, but this does not mean that we will take any opportunity of bringing physical hurt to them in a spirit of malice or spite, for both malice and spite belong to the Devil, whereas pure hatred does not. We must hate in the truest sense, which is to regard with extreme and active aversion, to consider as loathsome, odious, filthy, to detest. Surely any haters of God are not fit to live on his beautiful earth. The earth will be rid of the wicked and we shall not need to lift a finger to cause physical harm to come to them, for God will attend to that, but we must have a proper perspective of these enemies.

    Thanks

"When they deliberately choose such badness after knowing what is right, when the bad becomes so ingrained that it is an inseparable part of their makeup, then a Christian must hate (in the Biblical sense of the word) those who have inseparably attached themselves to the badness. True Christians share Jehovah's feelings toward such apostates; they are not curious about apostate ideas. On the contrary, they 'feel a loathing' toward those who have made themselves God's enemies, . . ."

In my opinion I "chose badness" when I became a jw, and rediscovered what is right
when I investigated the watchtower's doctrines, and decided to leave. I was always
uncomfortable with the shunning doctrine, and the idea of hating someone because
they chose not to believe as I did was completely foreign to me.

So much for the watchtower being the organisation built on love

The bibical sense? That must be where you kill every male and keep the virgin women to yourselves.

Thanks Gary for the more recent quote.

They love to have persmission to hate too. It's the same to them as those poor bastards who think they have to crawl for miles on their knees for the Virgin Mary. There is some twisted pleasure in it for them. They go back to their little halls of hate and hi five each other for hating and being so fucking good and spiritual.

They are the same ones who are screwing the overseer's wife, beating their kids and cheating their employees. But hey...they didnt get caught yet so...no harm no foul eh? HI-FIVE BRO!

this stuff is what i don't get. it is plain right there in front of the faces and they don't see it. how can individuals allow themselves to be so controlled and brainwashed that they don't see things like this?? it still is hard for me to phathom how i could have been controlled for so long. i was a pioneer and i didn't see all the obvious signs that this wasn't Jehovah's people. Do you think people will ever realize they are being brainwashed?

"malice and spite belong to the Devil, whereas pure hatred does not"

that's an interesting statement from the disciples of luv...

the problem is their definition of badness - in their eyes I am unrepentantly bad, because I don't believe their bull**** and have no intention of changing, so it's OK for them to actually hate me and not lift a finger to help me, even though by the standards of sane people I'm actually a pretty good person.

this is the wacko organization that actually debated in a WT article the pros and cons of stopping to help a disfellowshipped woman change her tire - the conclusion was, if I remember correctly, that it was OK to help her IF she was on her way to the KH for a meeting. What a horrible horrible version of love.

This is something I don't think most JWs even know: The WTS teaches that they must hate some people. And what is the criterion?

"Falling away" from the organization? No.

Failing to heed the direction of the WTS while remaining an active, believing JW? No.

Performing horrific acts (murder, rape, child sexual abuse)? No.

All those things are not grounds to "hate" someone. What is? No longer believing that the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society is God's sole channel of communication to the planet. Yes, it is only when you stop supporting the authority of this religious hierarchy that they instruct others to "hate" you.

The question I've posed many times: If these people are not setting themselves up to be "masters over your faith," who are!!??
