Actually, what commie chris said is true. The guys at the gym that are ripped not only lift everyday but they reps until their muscles fail. A little too intense for me. I want to keep on looking like a linebacker not Arnold.
Are there any bodybuilders on this forum?

It is generally accepted that working to failure is not beneficial in the "bodybuilding world" but who knows what they'll be saying in two years. When I work out I start at 12 reps with a rather light weight. Down to 10 reps with slightly higher, then 8, 6 and then back to 12 with a medium weight. I then go straight with no rest into a complimentary exercise. The weights I use are "light" by most peopls standards but the weight you use is far less important that perfect technique. If you're benching 380 pounds but the bar is bouncing off your chest while youre doing your "bench press" what's the point? Swallow your pride, ignore what the meatheads in the gym are doing and work out smart.

commie chris...
i may have been misunderstood...8-15 does work, however you can gain more muscle and lose more bodyfat by keeping your sets and reps low.
it takes more calories to keep muscles alive than to increase activity.
it is always how many reps you do... I am 6'3 216 lbs and 6 %
bodyfat..trust me on my advice.you dont want to fatigue your muscles you want to overload them.
the build up of lactic acid is counter productive. its pretty simpleif you want the best advice go to http://www.ast-ss.com

A body builder picks up a blonde at a bar and takes her home with him. He takes off his shirt and the woman says, "What a great chest you have." The body builder tells her, "That's 100 lb. of dynamite."
He takes off his pants and the woman says, "What massive calves you have." The body builder tells her, "That's 100 lb. of dynamite."He then removes his underwear and the woman goes running and screaming out of the apartment. The body builder puts his clothes back on and chases after her.
He catches up to her and asks why she ran out of the apartment. The woman replies, "I was afraid to be around all that dynamite after I saw how short the fuse was."
