I'll have to think about this for a bit before I cast my vote, however, in response to the Misery votes....
When I was a young lad I read a ton of Steven King books. I remember buying Misery and reading it as soon as it was released and before it was a movie. I couldn't put it down. I read it in record time and was terrified at what Paul Sheldon had endured. Needless to say when I heard that it was being made into a movie I was extremely excited. Unfortunatly I was dissapointed by the movie. The hobbling scene was actually a dissapointment. I suppose that's the case for many books turned movie though, huh?
