I don't know, maybe it's a cultural thing. Where I come from (the islands) people are friendly and happy to see you, especially the ones you haven't seen for a long time. I'm a people person and if I see someone I know I would definitely stop and talk to them. Maybe it's a female thing, I'm not sure.
