I can't imagine how anyone would prefer the concentration camp life to a normal life. But that dependence on a higher authority traded for personal freedom is worrying and that's what attracts and keeps people of this type in cults like the JWs. It's strange how the independant thinking and living function gets paralysed.

I read it :End quote to the book: "So, let us be alert in a twofold sense: Since Auschwitz we know what man is capable of. And since Hiroshima we know what is at stake." First published in Austria in 1946. 61 years later 2007, War, famine, hatred, is still ongoing in the the world. Has man really found meaning in this life? For me the search is still going on. Even C.S. Lewis"s The Problem With Pain, does not resolve the meaning of life with all it's pain and suffering of animals and innocent ones i.e. babies and children.
