No it's not and the only scripture used to back up that view in HEB 10:23 is actually talking about 'public declaration' i.e. Field Ministry

I never used comments this way (but I was so naive). I just used commenting as a way
to show offto show that I understood the ideas presented.gently feral

I don't think other churches care what the WTBTS believes or teaches about them but I do know that most consider them a cult and will be vocal about that. I really didn't like listening to the children reply to the paragraph mostly because you just know they don't understand and are only paroting the answer from the paragraph because mommy and daddy will beat the hell out of them if they don't.

To me, comments are a way to homogenize everyone and to make sure everyone is homogenized. After all, how many times can you hear differently worded versions of what is in the paragraph, with slightly different words, before you believe it? And if the meetings are in fact hypnotic sessions as the setups would have one believe, this is great post-hypnotic suggestion.
And one of the favorite topics is how to build up service. Hear that enough while under hypnosis, and you are soon going to be doing it automatically. And there is peer pressure to make sure no one does what Blondie does here: making comments that will expose the whole religion as a scam.

All comments have validity. My beef was the amount of comments given on certain paragraphs. The conductor would always spend a lot of time with the begining paragraphs and then have to rush at the end, resulting in going OVER-TIME ! This was always my main beef. Many short paragraphs had more comments then the long ones. I would lose interest in the meeting/meetings.
Yes, I would express my faith. I put the comments into my own words.

There seemed to always be people that would mention how fortunate to have the FDS explaining everything , so I suppose that shows their faith in the org. , they acted as if there were some way they were being heard in brooklyn whilst they said it . I think they are very sneaky and wouldn't doubt they had a phone line to brooklyn going at the time or a hidden camera.

I never understood how you could express YOUR faith by reading an answer from a pre-written study article.

WT commenting at the meetings is to show everyone how well trained you've been.

There were those who use to get on a soap box and gas on for 3 or 4 minutes with a firm grip on the microphone. My aunt still does that. By time they're through, the question is forgotten. Her husband, my uncle has a great sense of humor. When he feels she has gone on long enough he grabs the wire connected to the mic and starts shaking it. Her voice gets inaudible and then very loud so everyone knows hes shaking the wire!
He on the other hand always answers outside of the box, so is rarely called on.
