    Exciting, Good Luck!
I know lots of people who've had it done and they've all said they would have done it sooner. I'm working up the nerve to go through with it someday...

My daughter had the Intralasik procedure done about 2 years ago and she loves it. There are very few doctors that do the procedure - only one or two in Georgia. Her vision went from 20/800 to 20/12 the morning following the surgery & it gets even better as you heal.

I went back to her doctor to have it done 1 month ago. My vision was not that bad but I was beginning to have problems reading street signs from a distance. I went from 20/50 to 20/16 the morning following surgery. I do still need reading glasses but my far and mid vision is fixed. I don't have to get the expensive prescription ones anymore - they told me I could just get the cheap ones from the Dollar Store.

They said I would be sensitive to light but I did not expect it to be this much. I am using dark tinted reading glasses here sitting at the computer. I did not remember my daughter having this problem but she says she was very light sensitive for several months. So don't be surprised if you need to wear sunglasses a lot. I even wear them watching TV sometimes.

She paid almost $5,000 but the price had come down some by the time I had it and also I got a "family discount" so I paid less than $4000.

Good luck & enjoy your new vision.

I hope it goes well BB! Will be great if it works all fine and you wake up with new vision. Ditto. But I don't believe you will be put under. I had RK done over 20 yrs ago when the doctor used a scalpel with a sliver of diamond for a blade. They put drops in my eye to numb it and then I had to stare at a spot on the ceiling while he freehanded eight cuts to my cornea. Then I waited 10 days and went in to have the other done. This was standard procedure so that if the first eye got infected and ruined you would still have one eye left! $1200. per eye and since it was considered experimental insurance covered none of it. Everything went fine and I never regretted it.

Thanks for all the well wishes! For all those that are chicken - from what I've heard it's really not that bad - and I will give you all an account of how it went.

Here's hoping your doctor doesn't go on a bender tonight!

Thanks for putting my mind at ease Unconfused!

BB. If I may ask, how costly and what kind of Lasik will be done. There are different kinds, types of Lasik procedures depending on cost and poor eyesight. Nearsighted, farsighted, astigmatism and age. My daughter - in law had it done about age 30. My friend about age 60. Both are doing fine. I'm 62 and would like to have it done,

    Blueblades

I opted for the Zyoptic procedure - more customized and less of the cornea is affected - plus with this procedure there is a lifetime guarantee - if my vision regresses then I can have the procedure done again for no charge. The cost varies depending on the prescription and the procedure done. Having the Zyoptic procedure is a bit more expensive but with the lifetime guarantee plus 5 years of free eye checkups, I thought it was the better way to go. You should go and see if you are a candidate - the initial consultation was free, and it's a very thorough exam. MeneMene - thanks for the heads up. I'll have special sunglasses to wear for the first couple of days. I was told as well that I might in the future need reading glasses, it's just a normal part of the aging process and the laser surgery doesn't correct that. Gregor - OMG! Having the Dr use a scapel free hand would scare the you know what out of me!! I'm glad it all worked out fine for you!

Good luck! Hope the first thing you see is a gorgeous nurse!
