Yes! I always questioned them, especially those so called "experiences" where nameless, faceless persons always came out smelling of roses after making the stupidest decision. Those things always reeked of fantasy to me ... just like the theocratic school.

Service meetings are sales pep meetings. You were working for a magazine publishing company. You have to believe in what you sell.

If you dont you come to a place like this and recreate yourself.

Another thing I questioned a long time ago. All bible thumping advocates do this as far as I can see, they take scriptures and apply them to their situation when the scripture really had nothing to do with their situation.

Why not just take the phone book? If your drains pluged up call a plumber. If your dogs sick call a veternarian. If your cars broke call a mechanic. If you want to know the meaning of life, call a shrink, (Not that I think he knows the meaning of life, but he will probably tell you to get busy and start living.) Using a phone book more directly addresses your lifes problems than spinning your wheels trying to make sense of the bible.

Religion wants you to serve this god. But when you serve this god you are going to have problems and they take random scriptures to build you up and keep you going when you have the problems. Because you have problems, the simple minded think a ha! I must be serving God. Religion blames the problems on the debil. Like there is this demon and his team and they are getting their jollies screwing with us humans. That sounds like a faery tale to me.

Whatever endeavor you pursue in this life you will have problems. You should probably pursue something that is going to benefit you and make your life easier. If you spend all your free time spreading confusion and dissent,(being a JW) you shouldnt be supprised when life and karma takes a dump on you.

If God were able and willing to give you everlasting life. He'd be able to solve his own problems on this earth.

If it has tits or wheels you will have problems with it. You dont need the bible to see that.

I once did a demo and didnt run through it before hand and made a complete hash of it, anyway the Brother () doing the item had to say 'as long as you dont do it like that, i'm sure it will be fine'!

I had once the CO ask me to do a demo with him on a visit of his. It went as the following (I was holding the mic):

C/O: Hello, my name is so-and-so and I have been engaged in the christian ministry work this morning

    Me: Not interested mate!

C/O (thinking - oh I can get around this): Are you not interested in a better world for our children and family?

    Me: Not interested I said!

    C/O: Is it religion?

Me: Are you deaf? I said I'M NOT INTERESTED!

C/O: Oh! (with a puzzled look on his face)

Me: NOW GET OFF MY PROPERTY AND SHUT THE GATE BEHIND YA! (with that I hit the microphone to cause a huge thump thru the sound system and sat back down).

    C/O: What was that for?

Me: Welcome to our territory! (Biggest smile on my face)

Most in the cong was in disbelief because I did this to the C/O, but some laughed as they saw the funny side to it. They know now never pick me when I up to it.

Those demos really were pathetic weren't they?

The householder almost always cooperated, listened to the jw, and took the
literature. It wasn't much of a preparation for how it really was on the doors. I
used to present those items without any intention of following the advice in the
    articles myself.

I wonder what would happen if they had a householder or a demo where the person is trying to witness to a born again or rescue a call after the apostates messed it up. I bet there is no way they could get around someone stuck on Ephesians 2:8 and 9 where salvation is not contingent on works but faith alone. And if someone were to point out one of the many docctrial flub-ups in one of these talks, the conductor would likely shut it down on the spot.

A$$embly parts always work that way, too. They always give some counsel about something, and the person always takes the directiveadvice from the hounders in the dramas and skits. I wonder what would happen if someone actually got onto an apostate Web site and held to that site instead of following the demandscounsel to stay off those alternate sources of information. I have never heard anything where the person didn't fully agree once the skit was through.

As for practical advice, it all misses the point. Often you hear a talk where they declare you can do another 20 or 30 hours per month in service, or that people can and should be starting Bible studies. Worst is when they equate a person starting these new recruits as a blessing--I never once felt blessed when someone fell for the sales pitchgood news. If anything, it was a letdown. This is instead of finding a suitable wife? I would rather have the wife (or, failing that, the opportunities to do fornication) and forgo the study and the headacheblessing of having a person fall for the cult.
