Hello and welcome dljh to the board! I know it's easy for some old fogeys at Brooklyn who never had any exposure to the opposite sex (and have little or no desire left) to tell younger people that are exposed every day to simply avoid it. The way the structure of the organization is set up, they are having everyone within the misery growing old and dying as sexless God machines. And they wonder why I dropped out. If they won't let me do fornication, I will just go ahead and do apostasy. Hopefully that teaches them a lesson, especially when they see their Tower come crashing down.
Did The Watchtower Societys View Of Sex Make Sense?

It seems that this organization has conspired to stop people from ever having any fun, or getting any sexual fulfillment.
Fine point WTWizard. The sexually frustrated are easily controlled, they make great slaves.

As far as teenagers go - I think it's the parents responsibility to talk to their children about sex and what they expect from their children. It's not any organizations place to dictate this.
In this day, with not only STD's and pregnancy, but HIV (deadly of all), we need to talk to our children, tell them the facts and teach them how to protect themselves. It's not enough to just say don't do it. I have 3 children and it's impossible to watch them 24 hours a day. I have no desire to be with them 24 hours a day every day, every waking moment. I feel confident that I, as a parent have given them the facts and the tools (including condoms) to protect themselves.
When you say don't do it, or in my case told that sex is not fun, God (or Jehovah) only created it to "fill the earth, with people", then you have peers telling you that it "feels good" and "it is fun", that only makes the teenager more curious. I was told by my mother that if I sat next to a boy in a car I'd get pregnant!!! WTF???
Religion has no place in this matter expecially now, you have to be the one explaining this part of life to your children, and being honest, graphic and understanding.

They actually harped on sex so much that it made me more interested in it. Most teen kids are busy with sports or keeping up good grades. I remember as a unbabtized JW teen having a bible study with this baptized teen brother a few years older than me and the subject of masterbation was one of the topics. How uncomfortable can that be!!! Two young males sitting having a discussion on masterbation. The idea of abstaining is a good one but most parents give you something to work for like continueing your education and growing as a person before you open yourself up to all that is involved with sex. The WT gave me nothing to look forward to so sex became my escape

I can never help myself. When someone says: THE WATCHTOWER'S VIEW OF SEX,
this is what I picture-And the Branch in any given country:

How very true!!! Then to add insult to injury, an engagement period longer than 6 months is not "recommended". How practical could that advice be?

yeah, the masturbation thing doesn't make sense. first off, i don't know about all you all, but, if i go more than a day or two without, release, i go nuts, and it's all i can think about that. not only that, but, if you do go to long with that release, for guys, you have nocturnal emmission, which is your body getting rid of the unused baby juice. also, many doctors say that regular masturbation is not only mentally healthy, but, promotes good prostate function. thankfully, i have a wife that gives me more than i can handle, but, before, i was off to the races with a good nudie book and lots of lube. lol sorry for being so graphic, but, ya get my point.

In general I must say - The organization is convoluted in most it's doctrine - so I wonder why this would be any different.
I followed the rules however - and my life is pretty happy as a result. But as stated before - even Hitler had a few good rules that brought benifits to some. Pity the Jews though that had to die due to them. With the Jw's it is the 'world' that has to die to make room for it's overbearing impact on it's adherants. In the end - good comes to some who follow the rules - to others it is not that easy.
My marriage could have ruined my life if I had not chosen the right girl at 19. Most folks outside waited till they knew the person.

I thought their advice on sex was childish.....especially on our honeymoon when my wife (looking at the theocratic sex manual) insisted I joined her in singing...."you put your middle leg in,your middle leg out...your middle leg in and you shake it all about".....the people in the next hotel room must have had a good laugh....oh hokey cokey cokey....thats what it's all about ....SEE....
