Is there really a way to convert old records to CDs at home?
Yes, but it can be very time-consuming and could get expensive. By the time you get yourself a decent turntable, a pre-amp, a decent sound card, record cleaner, a PC with a burner & hard drive space, CD-Rs, audio editing software not to mention new styluses, you're going to spend a small fortune. Then there's the time it takes to convert the LP to the PC, edit it so you can seperate the tracks, and burning.
Or you could get someone to do it all who already has all of the above (hint hint!)
Recently got myself a nice 4-track player and got it up and running, so there's one more format to add to the pile. I'm the self-declared format king! Audio: 4-Track, 8-Track, Cassette, Microcassette, Minicassette, LP (33, 45, 78), CD, Reel 2 Reel. Video: VHS, VHS-C, Betamax, DVC, CED, Slides. I might be forgetting a few. I know I'm missing a few, and I'm going after them.
