First of all, I'd avoid the second design, as it looks a bit too much like a certain liquor logo.
The last link is a guy I know. He's reallllly cool.
This phoenix is actually the logo of the shop right next to mine, and I've always liked it :

ME likes the phoenix way more than the buddhist stuff. I know a lot of people with buddhist themed images on them, and they seem to always have a hard time explaining it.
But if you have to do buddha, you have to do him like this
