I have a theory for you TCK.
Maybe the P.O. was just an a$$hole. Plain and simple. I've known [more than] a few in the organization.
Edited for truthfulness.

Only a few NVR??!!
When I got married my buddy threw a bachelor party at his home, mind you we were MS. It was clean fun and we actually invited some of the younger brothers from the congregation. Anyway, he buys a six pack of beer and we, along with a couple of other buddies (all over 21), drank a beer each (the alchol hammering came at my reception ). Anyway, the next day at the meeting an elder comes up to me and said he was told that we got drunk. I was like WTF? I asked him who said that we got drunk, after all we have the right to face our accuser? He said that he did not want to name names, because the other party was scared. Once again I was like WTF? Scared of what? So I told him, well since you won't tell me who my accuser is, I don't need to tell you whether I was drunk or not. He just looked at me and said fair enough. Never heard back from him. Total, complete, bullshit!!!
This guy did you an enormous favor - he got you thinking...
I am surprised they turned you down since they could always do with any extra time of work in their favour. In the end it is good for you it saved you from labouring for the cult. Fortunately they didn't have the sophstication to let you preach accompanied by a more experienced person.

That's right Shawn! I actually started thinking for myself, something I had never learned as a JW!!!
No, can't say that has ever happened to me. After being on the boards and hearing so many stories about BOEs, I must say that i'm quite lucky right now because many in my cong get away with so much, especially the MS that miss 2 weeks of meetings at a time and don't get any flack for it. I've missed 2 weeks worth of meetings and i'm a MS and the elders haven't even called. They are just old and tired.
These were the qualifications back when you were baptized:
*** km 3/98 p. 4 par. 12 Will We Do It Again?—Another Call for Auxiliary Pioneers ***To qualify for auxiliary pioneering, one must be baptized, be of good moral standing, and be in a position to devote 60 hours to the ministry during the month.
*** km 2/97 p. 4 par. 9 Wanted—100,000 Auxiliary Pioneers ***A sister who was baptized at the age of 70 immediately began auxiliary pioneering on a continuous basis.
To REGULAR pioneer
*** km 8/86 p. 5 par. 21 Continued Increase Calls for Simplification of Procedures ***In order to qualify for the regular pioneer service, an individual must be baptized at least sixmonths and be a regular publisher.

Thanks for the info Blondie!
Over the years, I had also known of several other witnesses that began auxiliary pioneering soon after they were baptized. This brings me to another point. Could it be that the elders at that congregation and especially the P.O. didn't understand the difference between auxiliary pioneer and regular pioneer! In the case of a regular pioneer, yes, I would have had to wait for 6 months, after being baptized to qualify. But the only qualifications that I ever heard for an auxiliary pioneer was that the individual had to be baptized. And if the elders didn't feel that I was qualified or of good moral standing, then why did they let me pass the baptism test???
It looks like the P.O. didn't understand the WTS rules. Guess he was the one that wasn't qualified...to be an elder!!!
I can appreciate all that you're saying CoolerKing! I didn't "vacation" (in the 1970s that's what it was called. Then temporary pioneering and then auxilliary pioneering) pioneer until later as I was having babies! LOL I had no trouble getting the white slip to fill out, but I know that games were played.
Like someone else here said, it worked out for the best because you started questioning things. I wish I would've woke up long before I did.
