Were they not started by God, there for not started by pagans.

The dubs dont celebrate anything. That's what makes them dubs.
Celebration would take the focus off of the misery of being a dub.

Hi Irish Rose! I think it's because they say that Jesus did away with the whole Jewish System of things with his death. No more old covernant, on to the new covernant. No more old wine skins, new wine skins only. Of course they still play the double and sometimes triple play when it comes to old hebrew prophecy fullfillments.

Partly, because they apply the part of the NT that said that Christians were not obligated to do so but could if they wanted to...but shouldn't impose these celebrations on the Gentile Christians. The JWs actually are more Jewish in outlook than Christian.
But the WTS routinely patterns their behavior, doctrine and policies on the OT and the Jewish way of life.
For example, why do JWs have 3 assemblies/conventions every year, circuit assembly, special assembly day, district convention...patterned after the 3 Jewish festivals.

...and if the JW's claim that these old celebrations are done away with Jesus, why do they ignore Jesus' command to institute the foot-washing ceremony?

My uncle once compared a District Convention to the great assembly of Israel and the reading of the Law by Ezra.

Because JW rules and regulations, theology, beliefs, practices and customs are a confusing amalgam of different types of bullshit.

One would expect them to celebrate these since they are so judaic oriented in their theology and mentality. They are firmly based in the OT rather than the new NT so they might as well have gone all the way, to them jehovah is everything they are his organisation not Christ's church.

Dub's are led by childless old farts who have no sense of mirth or meriment. The ones on the GB who do have any sense of fun, are out-voted.
