I was thinking more along the lines of what Blondie was saying. Yes, the beleievers want the knigdom to come and the benefits, but in a way the thought of everything
you have ever known being totally uprooted is disconcerting.

I grew up in South LA, California. A very poor area. Everyone wants the end too come there. Drive-by shooting and crack heads. We had 35 pioneers and 100 active publishers at one point in the late 80's.
I got a career job and came off of the pioneer list in 88'. I could not believe how I was ostracized because of this. Not disfellowshipped or reproved, just came off of the list to WORK.
I guess in 1988, the end was too close, everyone was fleeing to the mountains.
jgnat,
Thanks for making me chuckle!
All the practical matters aside, I'm guessing that a lot of martyrdom-hungry JW's would really miss having someone to feed their persecution complexes.

I made friends with a lady who spent the years of her first marriage on an religious end-times commune. They went "back to the basics" all the way. I saw the rippling rock-hard muscles in her back, they were mightily impressive.
Where did she get those muscles, you ask? From hauling water daily.
It's kinda like this............they do and they don't.
