I think it started when Madeline Murray O'Hare complained

She didn't want any prayer in our schools.

And we said, OK...

Then,

Someone said you better not read the Bible in school,

The Bible that says

"Thou shalt! Not kill,

Thou shalt not steal,

And love your neighbors as yourself,"

And we said, OK...

We shouldn't spank our children

when they misbehaved

because their little personalities

would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem.

And we said,

An expert should know what he's talking about.

So we won't spank them anymore...

Then someone said

Teachers and principals better not

Discipline our children when they misbehave.

And the school administrators said

No faculty member in this school

Better touch a student when they misbehave

Because we don't want any bad publicity,

And we surely don't want to be sued.

And we accepted their

Reasoning...

And the entertainment industry said,

let's make TV shows and movies that promote

Profanity, violence and illicit sex...

And let's record music that encourages

Rape, drugs, murder, suicide, and satanic themes...

And we said,

It's just entertainment

And it has no adverse effect

And nobody takes it seriously anyway,

So go right ahead.

Now we're asking ourselves

Why our children have no conscience,

Why they don't know right from wrong,

And why it doesn't bother them to

Kill strangers, classmates or even themselves.

We could figure it out.

Let's see...

I think it started when Madeline Murray O'Hare complained

She didn't want any prayer in our schools.
No it started LONG before that... Prayer wasn't "Taken out of schools" until the 1960s. But school shootings have happened ever since the gun became more affordable and common.
70 year old James Foster fires a shotgun at a group of male students in the playground of St. Mary's Parochial School, causing minor injuries to several of the students. (April 9th. 1891)
Bath School disaster. School board member Andrew Kehoe set up a series of explosions in the Bath elementary school. That morning he killed his wife and detonated a bomb inside the school. As people amassed outside, Kehoe detonated his shrapnel-filled vehicle outside of the school. The bombings constituted the deadliest act of mass murder in a school in U.S. history. (May 18th 1927| 45 dead, 58 injured)
Why didn't you save THOSE kids god? huh, huh? What's your excuse this time?
Then,

The Bible that says

The same Bible that says:
"Thou shalt not have any other gods before me." Which is unconstitutional and promotes intollerance. Why the heck would we want that taught in schools?
The same Bible that says: "If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, 29 he shall pay the girl's father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the girl, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives. "
The Bible does not own the patent on anti-killing laws. Murder and theft are against the law, you don't need a bible for that. PLUS Students ARE allowed to read the bible in school, and they are allowed to pray in school. Ask any dub. They just aren't supposed to preach.
And the entertainment industry said,

Sure blame it on TV... The TV wasn't even available before the 1930s, and it was heavily censored... People have been killing each other for thousands of years.
Now we're asking ourselves

Why our children have no conscience,

Why they don't know right from wrong,

And why it doesn't bother them to

Kill strangers, classmates or even themselves.
Most children DO have morals. They DO know right from wrong. They DON'T kill their classmates or themselves... But all it takes is ONE bad person to do a school shooting. I think it has more to do with mental disorders than the fact that teachers no longer force their students to pray every day.
Now let's see... Who created mental disorders God?

Can't argue with that.
So since both atheists AND theists agree that god ain't planning on stopping school shootings. How about we start taking care of oursleves and STOP waiting on some invisible sky daddy to rescue us.
If you keep waiting on god. You'll find yourself making up excuses FOR him, and then writing it down as if god is saying it himself... then sending it to all your friends in an email.
So then: Dear God:

Why didn't you save the school children even when schools were religious, and TV didn't exist?
...
No answer? Fine. I'll take a stab at it... because he doesn't exist, and humans are the masters of their own fate. So if we want to stop school shootings, religion has already proven to be an unnacceptable solution.

Because God doesn't give a *$&@ about people. All He cares about is what He can get out of them, either materialistic or in terms of sacrifice. He expects us to work for Him to beyond our capacity, and yet He opts out of doing anything for us.
This is not new. This happened all the time in the Bible: God only wanted sacrifice. He manipulated Cain into killing Abel--all because He was not satisfied with Cain's sacrifice (which was, incidently a waste of food. Abel wasted more than Cain did at that time.) Noah had to waste time to build an ark when he could have just moved out of harm's way. Moses was harshly punished when, in the heat of the moment, he forgot to give God ALL the credit. King David was exalted for killing tens of thousands of Philistines that were only minding their own business. And there are other examples of this in the Bible where God either had innocent people killed or just sat there like a dope while His people were attacked.
I wonder what other terror plots God has in mind for us. For sure, He has created a huge mess. People have died because of God through the millenia. He started the first Dark Ages. He has had millions killed in His name for crusades. Wars have been fought for Him. Knowledge that could have saved and enhanced lives has been suppressed in the name of God. And God has created people that are unsuitable for mixing with the opposite sex while they still have that need--creating unnecessary friction and frustration in the process, which even amounts to a terror attack on all involved. Stagnation and death result from God.
Note what was behind the 9/11 attacks. Here is a prime example of thousands killed, and a major blow to many businesses, in the name of Almighty God. Subsequent terror attacks in Europe, and attempted and accomplished attacks and threats on other countries, are the result of Almighty Allah (which is Islam for God). All this has taught me that God is not some benevolent savior but the origin of many a problem. No God would mean no need for salvation for sins (most of which are intended to satisfy the ego of some almighty being and not for the legitimate benefit of man).
Of course, the Watchtower Society has taken a bad situation and made it even worse. Not only are they following a God that is destructive and a real @^&hole, but they are not even correctly following it the way they claim to be. Perhaps the God of Stagnation would be proud of the stagnation and hell that the Watchtower Society has made of people's lives. If this is God's way, then I will look to the Devil instead.

The ones who carried out the school shootings at Columbine, Virginia Tech, etc. were not just misbehaving. They were all mentally unstable in a major way.
It is a shame that society, in general, do not care about mentally ill people.

How could He have missed anyone that is trying to do society any good? Patience--it took Him 40 years before He had Joshua go in and kill the Canaanites. And that was for some petty faults of the Israelites: They got a bad report from 10 of the spies, and they believed it and were punished by having to wander for 40 years. Perhaps He will make up for it at Armageddon--when He destroys all those creating values for society instead of wasting all their time in the misery.

That's stupid - JWs would pull their kids out of the classroom if any "religious teaching" were done. If the Bible were read without the WT filters, that would be letting the theeir kids be influenced by "Babylon the Great".
More proof that JWs don't think - they just cop whatever evangelical / religious right messages almost kinda fit their agenda & pass them along wiothout thought.

I strongly disagree with that. My father would have made sure I was alienated and humiliated from that just as he did for all of the holiday events and flag salute.
VT Tech? You could ask, "why didn't God stop 9/11?" I don't believe in God, but what if there is a God or even more than one. Maybe they fight each other while all this is going on. IMO, there must be more than one faith involved with these tragadies, and not one God could come out and prevent it.
