Grace, mercy, peace and truth to you in the name of Jesus our Messiah. This is a study about the Godhead that I have been desiring to write about for some time now, and I hope to make this as simple, and short as possible. To begin, lets view the scriptures that speak of the Godhead.

(Romans 1:20) For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

(Colossians 2:9) For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.

These are the only three places in the scriptures where the word "Godhead" is written. I believe it is very important to understand how the word Godhead is used in these verses, and to accomplish this we must look at the original Greek definition which is found in Thayer’s Greek Dictionary.

Acts 17:29 is the first place the word "Godhead" is found in the scripture. In Acts chapter 17 the apostle Paul was preaching to the people of Athens which worshipped idols. He saw an altar with the words scribed "TO THE UNKNOWN GOD" which had no graven image, and he said, "Him I declare unto you." Paul, being a Jew, an Israeli, a Benjamite, did not point to a graven image, and say, "Him I declare unto you" because Israelites are forbidden to worship idols.

The apostle said that we are the offspring (descendants) of God, and since we are His descendants it proves that God is not made of gold, silver, or graven art because if He was then we would be made of gold, silver, wood, or stone (seeing that we are His descendants).

The Greek word for Godhead in Acts 17:29 is "theios" which simply means Diety (Strong's Greek #2304) which is the Creator (source) of creation. Paul was speaking about the Spirit of GOD, and was not talking about three manifestations of God.

Romans 1:20 is the second place the word "Godhead" is found in the scripture. In this verse the apostle starts off saying "the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen." How are the invisible things of God clearly seen? Paul taught these invisible things were clearly seen and "understood by the things that are made" or as the apostle said in another place "Does not nature itself teach you?"

The Greek word for Godhead in Acts 17:29 is "theiotes" (Strong's Greek #2305) which means Divine Nature. God's divine nature/behavior/character is revealed through His creation, especially through His Son, through His Christ, which is the expressed image of the invisible God. Paul was speaking about GOD'S DIVINE NATURE, and was not talking about three manifestations of God.

Colossians 2:19 is the third and last place the word "Godhead" is found in the Holy Book. This verse is short and simple, yet very powerful. Paul said that all the fullness of the Godhead dwells in the Messiah bodily, that is to say that God Himself was inside the Christ reconciling the world unto Himself.

The Greek word for Godhead in Colossians 2:19 is "theotes" (Strong's Greek #2305) which means Deity or state of being God, in plainer terms GOD HIMSELF. Godhead does not mean trinity or three manifestations of God. Godhead is God Himself who is manifested (revealed) through the flesh of the Son of God, His Christ.
