I think that was why my dad was df'd, but we never discussed it. I wish it had worked, he may not have died from lung cancer. But then again, considering he continued to smoke thru his treatment, I get the impression nothing was going to stop him from smoking.

It was one of the reasons I was df'd at 16 but not the major one. It was stated that smoking was demonic. Same as pornea, and spirits of "wine and spirits"....I think its pretty ironic now, I don't drink hard liquor at all, but can consume a whole lot of wine!

How about DFing people for consuming too much saturated fats, eating at Mc Ds too much, not exercising, having a stressful lifestyle. All of these have proven health effects- same as smoking.
But really, what do you all expect, you can be DF'd for what you think (like thinking that the WTS is not the one channel of God) so being DFd for smoking is not the most shocking thing that happens

It occurred to me recently that this is not about "uncleanness" or "spiritism" or whatever they want to call it. What it is all about, imo, is the fact that if they can control your behaviour, they can also control your beliefs and attitudes.
I agree with Scully, it's all about mind control. It's like their claims about the trinity, how the catholics use it to keep their members in awe of the priests. This is the dubs trinity. They can make you quit a habit which no amount of health warnings, diseased organs on cigarette packs, (what you get in Oz) graphic commercials while you're eating and being treated like a paedophile leper from the 'world' can do. That's the ultimate power.

My sis-n-laws mom drinks nothing but diet pepsi ....and i mean nothing...no water......at all.....she is very overweight....(disagreeable to, but thats beside the point) Anyway my point is....they have no problem with the fact that she cares so little about her overall health but they care if someone smokes.....I honestly believe its bad for your health as bad as overeating or eating nothing but mcDonalds.(hahahaha)....but thats also just my opinion....I don't treat anyone differently if thats what they choose because its their choice not mine....... But the society chooses one over the other.......probably because smoking was the easier one to pick on....not sure......they don't have the right ....

I agree with Scully, it's all about mind control.It's the same idea when it comes to not allowing beards. If they can get you to control that facet of your life, they can control other facets as well, including controlling how you regard and treat Marked™ or DFd or DAd people.

What makes their attitude towards smokers outrageous in my view is the fact that they will forgive a child molester if he "repents" for his crimes when he is caught, and even try to shield such people from the law, yet will punish anyone who smokes a few cigarettes, which is still a legal act.

Since when did someone who liked to smoke deserve the 'living death' imposed by the Watchtower Society?
Since when did child abusers deserve the protection of a multi million dollar publishing company?
It is a disgrace!
