Another thing with a mersenary military like we have. What is to stop a group from packing their guys in so as to gain knowledge and control of those high tech weapons, just to turn them back on their enemies back in our counrty.

Another thing to consider is how the US army used to work.
It used to pretty much dissapear till needed but after ww2 when the US became a true empire it needed men continuly to came presence over seas this worked till Vietnam. Then the designed of the army by the founding father kicked in to cause the end of vietnam. So certain US elites ended it with the volunteer force.
But, they didn't expect the freemarket to ever work against them like it has with Iraq. So they can keep getting volunteers but, they keep needing to pay them more. Which the rich refuse to do by paying more taxes or the chinese and japanese by not buying or debt. So you end up with am army and people bitter with their leadership. That and a goverment on the verge of collapse like ours. Think Russia 1989 after Afganistan. Ironic in a way isn't it !
