Can I Disassociate myself from this site?

  Hi Guys and Galls,

  I have been a happy member for a few weeks now and have just figured out that this site is owned and monitored by the Borg.

  Everytime I land on the homepage there is an advert from Google inviting me to BethelTours. From my limited online advertiding experience I reckon that 3% of the 400,000 daily users click on this advert. If just 1% go ahead and book then Bethel will be raking in at least a few thousand dollars a week.

  I thought the society had stooped to every low level but using a JW discussion board to generate extra income is just priceless!

  I await a Supreme One to disfellowship me.

  I don't think there is a formal dissociate policy here, just stop coming to the site and stop posting.

  This isn't the JW org, you will not be shunned because you don't post here anymore.

  All you have to do is stop coming to this site. Of course, if later you decide to return, you will always have that option for as long as the site is around.

  Another thing anyone that doesn't like some feature of this forum can do is to start their own. That way, you control it. You make and enforce the rules. You control what, if any, advertising is allowed. You decide which features you want to appear on the forum. Of course, you also have to deal with the trolls, spammers, and hackers that will show up on your forum. This seems to happen to everyone, since there are always those with nothing better to do than create problems for forum owners or to sell totally unrelated wares on others' forums. However, those are some of the options.

  Of course, you can break one of the rules. However, I would not recommend that since that way, if you later want back on, you might not be able to get back. My advice is to just become inactive if you don't want to stay active here for whatever reason. That way, you will be able to come back later if you so choose.
