I have something called "witch-dar", meaning I can pick out in the crowd someone who is practicing occult, and it really works most of the time. Ther

    Dave

I have the same ability, but I am able to pick out the people who are into S&M. from across a room, I can spot them.

Not much market for it though

also, i can usually spot someone who's an arsehole across the room . that is very useful

I have read a few books by Sylvia Browne. I don't believe everything she says, but some of it makes sense. The reason I bring her up is -she says:

stay away from Ouija boards. she says-- you would not open the door and allow just anyone into your home, would you? That is what you do when you play with the Ouija boards. You allow any and all psychic riff raff ( did i spell that right?) into your home. You may get lucky and have a nice spirit enter,or you may have let an undesirable spirit in .It's your home don't let just anyone in. (paraphrase)

i think that makes sense. I myself have never used the board and don't plan to

I can tell you exactly "who" is on the other end of the Ouija board. No, it is NOT Satan or a demon. It is the same forces that affect the contents of your dreams--your own right brain! And sometimes your right brain, which is fed the data through the left brain, comes up with answers that you would not have thought of consciously.

Usually, what happens when you play with the Ouija board is that the planchet moves in a random pattern. You get no message, or a message that means nothing. But, every so often, your right brain will subtly move your hand (and the hand of your partner, who is also using the right brain) in a particular pattern. These are usually gentle movements that will spell out a message. This can get to be pretty scary when the message actually means something. But it is really nothing more significant than when you are trying so hard to solve a problem without success, and then suddenly you find the solution. Or, when you are dreaming. No demon is controlling the planchet.

Why then do so many people have bad experiences with the Ouija board? For the same reason they have bad dreams and nightmares. For instance, if you have been a lifelong Jehovah's Witness, your brain is likely programmed to integrate negative things, usually about dying at Armageddon. That's why so many of them have nightmares and bad dreams. And they have been programmed to believe that the demons are controling the planchet, adding to the effect.

My take: It is OK to use the Ouija board. However, it should be viewed as entertainment only. You might get a plausible message. However, it is about as reliable as dreams are. And if you have a lot of bad dreams or nightmares, you can expect to have bad messages on the Ouija board once you can work it at all. However, you are not going to be possessed by demons (I bought one just to prove that point, and to slap Jehovah in the face and have had no problems with it).

As for going to the meetings, that's another story. The meetings deliberately program people into believing lies, and they are explicitly designed to program you. The subliminal images in the Watchtower have been proven. But it's the message that they promote openly that's the chief danger. Given the choice, I think I will take the Ouija board any day.

    Lt.Cmdr.Lore,

    (Love your name btw)

What if the glass was completely dry? how did it move then? It's ok to be skeptical about it, and I understand skeptics,

but what if you were there, and saw the glass move yourself, not just a millimeter of movement, but move about 6-12 inches?

....how would explain seeing that with your very eyes?

(most people use dry glasses...not wet ones, especially not frozen ones)....just a thought.

I just realized why Ouijas work sometimes, amd sometimes not.

It depends on the demons in your locale.

    Some are slackers, hence nothing.

Some are real go-getters, hence weird stuff happens.

    Those crazy demons.

I guess they're not so different from us at all.

What if the glass was completely dry? how did it move then?

I wouldn't know, I wasn't there, I'm just trying to offer one of several possible explainations.

All I know is that somebody on the internet says they saw a glass move, here's the information I have:

They were on a camp ground.

The next thing I know, she has made out the letters and numbers, lit a candle, and had a drinking glass to use on her table.

She didn't specify whether of not the glass had been drank/drunk out of. (whichever) But since they were camping, I'd guess that they didn't have a huge excess of dishes. Odd are it was used and sticky, so they would wash it off before using it on the board. Plus the board was home made on the spot, so they probably weren't too concerned about getting it wet.

Needless to say, I was very nervous, and almost bowed out. But I was curious, so I stayed and joined in.

She was alread nervous, so she must have already thought that it might work, it's easy to be convinced of something when you already believe it before you start.

After a few seconds, the lady summoned "something", and I could feel this energy inside the glass.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume that delilah had never 'felt' such an energy before, and therefore wouldn't have recognized it as supernatural if she had felt it say, while drinking at work or while watching Shrek 3.

the candle was flickering, and went low....

Okay, they do that quite often, perhaps Delilah or the lady was breathing heavier due to being frightened or exited.

she asked if the spirit wanted to speak with us. The glas went to the letters, "N", and "O". then it wouldn't move again.

So it didn't want to speak to them, but it did anyways. When I don't want to answer a phone call... I simply don't answer it, I don't pick it up and say: "I don't want to talk right now." (Then hang up, and then call them again a few moments later and then hang up on them again.)

There were two of them, I'm willing to bet that ONE of them may have been influenced by their subconscience.

The lady's husband was not impressed, and he wanted out of the corner he was sitting in, as he did not believe....so, he went outside and we resumed.

The lady was already into this stuff... and yet her husband didn't believe. Why would her husband not believe? (No mention of whether or not he believed after the glass moved.) For some reason, he didn't find the evidence convincing any other time before this. And as the womans husband, I'd assume he WAS an eyewitness most of the time.

The glass moved a few minutes later, gliding right towards me, and went to random letters, that made no sense...

I'm not gonna ask why they were sitting at the ouija board if neither of them were touching it... But a glass moving and spelling out random letters sound exactly like the floating glass effect I mentioned earlier. And yes, they normally do move about a foot. Sometimes from the middle of the table all the way to the edge if the table is slanted. (And if they were camping, in a camper or outside, their table is probably not exactly level.)

until it was asked if it was a child. It spelled, "YES", then we asked if it was a girl, and again, it spelled, "YES"

Why would you ask if it was a child? Who asked? Delilah or the lady? That's not the first question that would pop into MY mind... Did you put your hand back on after the glass moved? (I would have)

Now more than ever you would be being affected by your subconscience.

at that moment, the lady's cat jumped up on the table, brushing my arm, and I jumped ....and, well,

    that was the end....

I hate cats... they're weird. But if I were a feline sitting on a table while two humans were sliding an empty cup all over the place and getting freaked out, I would probably leave too.

Don't think I'll play that again. I know that glass moved of it's own free will....I felt the energy from it, go up my arms....it was really wierd.

So... where you touching the glass or not? After re-reading this, it seems that the glass actually didn't move on its own at all without being touched. I thought you meant that nobody was touching the glass when it moved, but if you felt the energy move up your arm, then I guess not. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

So the way I see it, there are four main possibilities:

1: It didn't happen, some person on the internet is lying for a cheep laugh. (Nah, I don't believe that, don't worry Delilah)

2: Delilah was being tricked by the lady, it's not unheard of for people to pull pranks on their friends. (Remember it WAS her idea... And she DID set it all up... Maybe that's why her husband didn't beleive, he knows she's just pulling a prank.)

3: A bored irritated spirit didn't want to talk. But from the spirit realm it heard the call of a small piece of paper being written on, so it comes all the way across dimensions and space just to say that it doesn't want to talk. Then it realises that it wasn't doing anything interesting in the spirit realm anyway, so it'll mess with you a little. It develops this brilliant plan to slide a glass across the table in a manner that is easily explainable and then says 'yes' twice.... and tickles your arm... Then it discovers that this is also very boring, so it pokes your cat and leaves.

4: There were no otherworldy spirits involved, you worked yourself up and allowed yourself to be influenced by your own ideas, or hers.

....how would explain seeing that with your very eyes?

The same way I explain it when I didn't see it. Plus if I were the one there, I wouldn't have been concerned about spirits in the first place, so it probably wouldn't have worked for me. And I would have left with the lady's husband and got something to eat.
