The WTBTS prides itself in saying that truth doesn't change but rather it "refines", or "makes adjustments".
When the society changed it's belief on who the " higher powers" were from Jehovah and Jesus to Secular authorities it wasn't a refining they did or an adjustment, it was an entire opposite idea. It was the same as will those in Sodom and Gommorah being ressurected from a yes to no to yes to no.
The sad thing is that when you point out these inconsistencies, it usually has no effect on them.

Calling something the "truth" does not make it the truth. I always wondered, how can a person be in the "truth"?
