Mother orders daughter to stab man, officials say
Woman was afraid Jehovah’s Witnesses were trying to ‘steal’ her son
By KATHERINE ROSENBERG Staff Writer VICTORVILLE — Afraid that Jehovah’s Witnesses were trying to “steal” her son, a local woman ordered her 15-year-old daughter to stab a 19-year-old Witness, officials said.
Around 3:24 a.m. Wednesday, officials were sent to the 15100 block of Seneca Road for a report that a man had been stabbed repeatedly by a 15-year-old girl, while two 17-year-old girls restrained him, according to Sgt. Chris Elvert of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Victorville station.
Authorities said that Miesha Porter, 32, took her daughter and her two friends to the home to attack the 19-year-old who had befriended her 14-year-old son, Elvert said.
“When they arrived they kicked the door in, right off its hinges,” said Detective James Wiebeld. “The victim said that the mother demanded the child stab him, and kept repeating, ‘stab him, stab him’ until she did.”
Later interviews revealed that the boy wanted to spend time with his 19-year-old friend because he was abused at home and the home was always in squalor, officials noted. Still, Porter maintained that the 19-year-old was a Jehovah’s Witness trying to convert her son.
“She said that they were a good Christian family and this guy was trying to steal her son,” Wiebeld said.
Following the attack, Porter and the three girls fled the scene before authorities arrived. The man was taken to an area hospital where he was listed in stable condition, Elvert said.
The woman’s son told Deputy Jeff Wickham that the group likely went back to their home in the 15100 block of Jeraldo Drive, authorities said.
When Wiebeld arrived at the home he found the door wide open, with three children ages 2, 6 and 8 who had been left unattended, officials said.
Looking back on their call history, officials determined that earlier in the morning, around 2:30 a.m., deputies Heather Vallejos and Kevin Warner had been sent to the home following an anonymous tip that small children were subject- ed to living in the unsanitary home with no access to food.
At that time the door was locked and there was no response, so the pair decided to check back during daylight hours, said Karen Hunt, spokeswoman for the station.
It was further determined that a call of a fight at the pool of an apartment complex in the 15200 block of Seneca Road around 12:30 a.m. was for the same teenagers who reportedly tried to kill the 19-year-old man, authorities said.
The knife was found at the location and the four women were later found and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Miesha Porter was also arrested on suspicion of child endangerment, officials said.
