Welcome! You raise a point that makes me very unhappy -- the knowledge that there are ex-JW's out there that simply don't know JWD exists. Or any ex-JW board, for that matter. My heart hurts thinking about how much help they could receive here, if they only knew about it.

    Glad you popped by!

Hi Dawn and welcome. I hope that your pain has long passed but if not, that you're able to feel comfortable here talking about it and letting it go.

    A beautiful ceiling

    Just makes you pass
    Into a dream

    You're here today
    No future fears
    This day will last
    A thousand years
    If you want it to

Welcome Dawn, what's that flower you have on?

    Congrats on the reunion.

Thank you all for all of your wonderful welcomes. I'll look forward to getting to know you but please be a bit patient with me. . .it takes me a while to learn everyone's name. It's like walking into a party with alot of people and being introduced and then trying to remember everyone's name when they come back to talk later. I'm looking forward to it . . .I'm just 10 years older now than I was last time I did this. . . my brain was probably a bit quicker then. : - )

To Sandra. . .who inquired about Dave. . .I will be sure to tell him you said hello. And yes. . .he is a wonderful man. He is very special to me and always will be - one of the best people who has ever touched my life. He's real. . .he's raw. . .and he doesn't "blow sunshine up your booty". Tells it like it is. I will always carry Dave in my heart - he's the brother I never had.

Since I just got up a while ago, I'm going to refill my coffee cup and then get outside to the yard work. Hope you all have a great weekend. I'll be reading the different posts and commenting when I have something to say. . .which, you'll find, is most of the time. ~grin~

    Welcome Dawn!

A small world eh....also a friend of old Dave, if ya want I could very easily go by personally and give the old geezer a pinch for ya. It's been a long time since hubby and I have visited with him.

Anyway glad you found yourself here and reconnected with the brother you never had, he's a good guy.

Splendid idea - a good hard pinch would do him some good!! As would some company - he likes to kind of crawl up in his cave - I think a visit would do him some good.

And yes, my pain over leaving the WT has long since passed. I guess when I think about it I have been out longer than I was in - but the feeling that it took my childhood away will always be there. My parents are still active and have jacked me around over the years - talking to me at certain times and trying to act normal and telling me they can't associate with me at other times. At this point, I've had enough. You can't jerk someone around and give your affection and take it away and do it over and over and expect any love or respect in return. Even during the times I was seeing them and talking with them though, it was nothing but WT and their friends and what they're doing and on and on and on. They never wanted to know anything about my life, my successes, my daughter, etc. It was always a very one-sided thing - which gets very old. They don't have a clue about any of the "real stuff" that goes on in their organization, but I do sometimes wonder. . .if they don't question things in their own minds. I would think it would only be natural. I remember as a teenager waiting for 1975 to come. . .and then it did. . .and then it passed and so did the rest of the 70's and then the 80's and then the 90's and now here we are. . .and still no Armegedon (forgotten how to even spell it - ~grin~). It just makes me wonder why they don't question it. . .I guess the "fear of God" keeps them from questioning anything. They have been enslaved since I was 2 years old - 1957. They even lost me at the assembly in New York - I think it was in l958, wasn't it? Can you imagine losing your child in Yankee stadium now? Times have changed. . .

Welcome, dawn. Any friend of sevenish is a friend of mine. Here's a thread I put together for newbies, which also includes a link to JWD abbreviations. It's getting a little long in the tooth, but it's still all great stuff. Kind of like me.
