    Hello and good evening all!!

Just thought I would share a funny story that happened to my daughter and I the other day! We were shopping and ran into a JW who had always been very friendly when we were active. I haven't seen her in ages. Of course as many of you know we have the "apostate" label!! Well I saw her and said really cheerful, "Hi! How are you??" She just looked at me with disgust. She nodded her head and I barely heard her say "Fine." She didn't even crack a slight smile. Seeing her haughty attitude, it irritated me.. so I decided to say, " I haven't seen you in so long..let me give you a hug!!" Before she knew what was happening I gave her a big hug. Her limp arms barely wrapped around me. My teenage daughter was standing there observing her "christian warmth", and said that when I hugged her she rolled her eyes. I knew I threw her off..I meant to. I said, "Well it was so good to see you..you be sure to tell everyone hello and give them our love ok??" She just starred at me and barely nodded. I said "You take care now..well see you later". She just turned around and kept shopping never saying another word! I actually would did not expect her to behave this way towards me..I have known her for years. She has had a extreemly hard life, and our family was always there to encourage her. So her reaction to me although typical, was suprising for her. But they are all brainwashed..I should expect nothing less I know.. It was however good for my daughter to see first hand the difference between us. To say the least she was disgusted!! Anyhow..just thought I would share..funny hugh..kill them with KINDNESS..they will hate you for it!!

    Sincerely,

    Lady Liberty

    Dear Lady L,

Thanks for the great story. It's not unlike what many of us have gone through, wanting to remain gracious and loving despite THEIR change toward us. I always remember Melanie from "Gone With the Wind," who was always her sweet, unassuming self around conniving, catty Katie Scarlett O'Hara. Likewise, Christ, when he was suffering, did not go threatening nor returning injury for injury, but continued devoting himself to the One who judges righteously. And you're correct - for your daughter's benefit, actions do speak louder than words.
I wish you ongoing success in your KTWK endeavors!

Nice one!! Good that you didn't let her get away. It's a bit irritating having to be SO NICE to these thugs to make the point though hey?

Very cute story Lady Liberty, nicely played :) If I ever feel like hugging a JW and there's not one around, I guess I'll just wrap my arms around a freezer.

I hope you and all your fam is doing well!

I've done this too. It's quite a lot of fun... although I've sometimes wondered how quickly they rush home to wash off my aposta-cooties.

This only happened once, but it was so worth the $15 I spent on setting it up - we were out for dinner one evening when I noticed a JW group of 8 or so people of our acquaintance sitting in a secluded corner. Knowing who it was, and considering this curse I have for remembering trivial details, I realized that this was not just any dinner outing for the JW table - someone was having a BIRTHDAY, although it was toned down and not mentioned. The restaurant has this tradition of honouring birthdays with a gathering of staff around the birthday person's table, singing a birthday song and presenting them with an ice cream sundae with sparklers on it.

So I called the wait staff over and gave them a $10 tip and told them to add the cost of the birthday sundae to our bill and have it sent to the JW table, and told them I wanted to do it anonymously.

Half an hour later, we're getting ready to leave, when we notice the staff parading over to the JW table, with a jolly "We heard SOMEONE is another year older today!!!" and they go into their song and dance routine, with the JW elder having the flaming sundae placed in front of him. Everyone at the table thinks it's one of their party who set it up as a joke. They're all kind of embarrassed, chuckling.... and then we walk by... my eyes meet the eyes of the birthday boy and I feign a look of horrified dismay .... as if to say "I'm SOOOOO STUMBLED".

    It was priceless.

    Scully that was awesome

Best I can do is the time I unfortunately (for her) joined the same check out queue as the woman who studied with my wife (as in my wife was the study)

Realising she was pretty much trapped there with my shopping on the conveyor, I said "hi Margaret." She ignored me but I just said louder HI MARGARET

Eventually she said hello begrudgingly. But she then began to my little girl up and down (about 5 at the time) like she was a piece of dirt.

That really pissed me off. I was trying to thing of something really cutting to say to her in my annoyance.

She paid for her shopping and as she walked off in silence I called "Margaret"

She didn't turn but she paused for a fraction.

    As she did I said " . . . God bless"

I might as well have stuck a knife in her back.

    It felt great.
