Love the show, and Gordon Ramsay. Which is the show where he goes in and tries to turn around a restaurant that is having problems? Is that The F Word? The New Yorker had an in-depth profile of Ramsay a few issues ago. Good stuff.
I learned a lot more about cooking and running a business in his other show than I do with Hell's Kitchen. Not being into self-flagellation and extreme humiliation in a public setting, and having a bit of a temper, I wouldn't go on Hell's Kitchen for love nor money.

I guess I'll be the first to say it: I can't stand the show or the ignorant guy who's the star. Whatever happened to encouraging people to do better when the do something wrong, instead of screaming at them as to what "F**k-ups" they all are? I'm sure alot of it is done for the camera, but I had enough of being put down and yelled at when I was young (even when I tried to do things right). I guess that's why this show hold no appeal to me whatsoever.

I was put off by Ramsay when I first watched him. It was his other show which turned me around. He was a lot less abusive in dealing with people, and really knew how to inspire and light a fire under the asses of a lot of talented but lazy or unfocused chefs and restaurant owners. It showed a caring side to Gordo that is less exposed in Hell's Kitchen.
Some of these contestants are pretty pathetic - the guy who cries all the time has just got to go. And the skill levels - what they did with the fish was just sad, and an indication that these are not well trained people. The Waffle Barn cook or whatever she is might just be a surprise. Some people who can really cook may not have a lot of schooling in the field.
Ramsay is right though - think about who in this group could run a major restaurant - and you'll quickly see who has to go.
