A brother in Monett, now gone, said the JWs get just enough educaiton to fill out SSI forms.....

Another case of passangers stuffing thier faces with treats off the "sweets table" before the Titanic sinks!

Best wishes on your retirement: mine, due t othe advice of the WT, will be spent greeting people at the front door of Wal Mart.

    Yours in this Journey,

If you regular pioneer you won't be materialistic.

*** km 6/03 p. 5 pars. 1-2 Retirement—A Door to Increased Activity? ***Many hardworking people long for the time when retirement will free them from the toil and pressures of secular work. All too often, though, retirement results in apathy, boredom, and premature aging. The lack of purposeful activity can leave the mind preoccupied with worry over self. A Brazilian newspaper reported that retired public employees complained of problems ranging from ‘dissatisfaction, irritability, insecurity, and loss of identity to depression and the feeling that their world was falling apart.’
In contrast, many Christians view this new chapter in their life as a door to increased spiritual activity. One brother who began pioneering two weeks after reaching the age of 65 said: "I have never experienced a period in my life so richly filled with blessings as the past ten years of pioneering." A couple wrote: "Our real golden years began when we started pioneering." Yes, for many, retirement offers a golden opportunity to expand their ministry and reap rich blessings from Jehovah.

Just reporting not supporting............................where did I say that you WERE materialistic, just that some judgmental jw friend of yours might.

Retire by 40; I'm looking into retiring now...in my 50's; you're ahead of me.

So are you still in your MTS assignment. Three bailed last year around here; I don't know if it was their idea or the WTS idea since I'm not in the gossip loop.

throw it out and don't give them another thought. What do you care about their opinions? They're just jealous anyway, because they wish they could be materialistic AND be a JW.

It is obvious that you have been judged by some in the Borg. Of course, if you appear successful, you must be materialistic. Why else would you possibly have left?

If you are a fader, this is actually a good sign. You are not viewed as apostate, only "using the world to the full."

What you should do is be glad that you are not still giving money to the WTS, wearing out your car taking people in door to door work, and are saving for retirement.

It's all good!! Buy something new to put out in front of your house or apt. that bespeaks the higher standard of living and your happiness!!

I'd sell the magazine on e-bay - just to make a profit !

Send it to Bethel, with the parts about being materialistic and making money highlighted.

Here are a few things that an Awake! magazine can be used for...

    • Re-line a bird cage
    • Potty train a puppy
    • Wrap an old fish that needs to be thrown out
    • Start a romantic fire in the fireplace
    • Make paper airplanes
    • Lower your electric bill and save the environment by stuffing the paper in cracks around your front door to stop air leaks
    • Roll it up and swat a bad dog on the nose
    • Save the environment by recycling the paper
    • Re-line a cat litter box

I agree with the e-bay idea. Say the information is priceless, and has helped rid yourself of Satan's trap of materialism.

And then put the minimum bid at $5000.
