From what I hear, there was a heck of a lot of confusion over who should partake and what "hope" you have right after 1935. I think that accounts for the wild shifts in numbers early on.
Memorial Partaker totals for 72 years by request!

So how much of the memorial talk this year was about who can partake compared to mentions of Jesus? They are still stressing no new anointed. Anyway, the WTS says some of the anointed have to still be alive on earth when the GT starts but then says that the wedding of the Lamb starts shortly after that. Will all the bride be in heaven if so many younger people are partaking?
For another day
Thanks Atlantis

Am I the only one that used to morbidly watch the partaker statistics in the hope of the end coming?

Hoi,
I think something is wrong about de Memrial Partakers from 1935. De Watchtower said :
For example, at the Memorial celebration in 1935, attended by 63,146, those partaking of the emblems in evidence of their profession to be anointed numbered 52,465. Thirty years later, or in 1965, the attendance was 1,933,089, while the partakers decreased to 11,550. Moving 30 years closer, in 1995 the attendance jumped to 13,147,201, but only 8,645 partook of the bread and the wine. (1 Corinthians 11:23-26) Clearly, as the decades passed, the number of those professing to be of the remnant greatly decreased—some 52,400 in 1935; 11,500 in 1965; 8,600 in 1995. However, those with earthly hopes have been blessed, and their number has increased abundantly. Wt 8/15/96 page 30
It isn't 53.835 but 52.465. Is it possible to check those numbers ? Thx.

Body,
Are you a member of the Governing Body? Not that I want to scare you away....and no, you do not have to answer that.

Interesting! Basically the numbers have stayed static sine the late 1960's. Does that mean that the remnant are exceptionally healthy, or could it mean something else?

I suppose the anointed could be exceptionally healthy - maybe being slightly insane keeps you fit as well. Or maybe some who profess to be anointed aren't really, and everyone who partakes has to be counted. Or maybe the watchtower theory on there being an anointed "class" limited to 144,000 is bullsh*t, like most of their ideas.

Don't believe everything you read in the watchtower - remember who writes it.

I have been putting together a graph and noticed that on a number of occasions there are contradictory figures, such as the average pubs for 1979 as listed in the 1980 magazine and then a different number in the 1981 magazine.
