Should they then be referring to themselves as Christians?

I didn't realize fully that he wasn't (according to their teaching). It always bugged me that the Greek Scriptures didn't apply to me. I think I would read that and my eyes would gloss over it, saying that they couldn't really mean that. It was so wonderful to learn that Jesus IS my mediator.....

I'm willing to lay odds that 90% of the current dubs don't realize they are being taught that Jesus is not their mediator. But it is in their publications in black and white. Do they actually read this stuff? Study it, like good little JWs are told to do? A large percentage I knew did not.

Should they then be referring to themselves as Christians?

This is a question that I often ask.

It seems there is a disconnect between the WTS official doctrine of the 144,000 making up the "true Christian congregation" and then referring to all JWs as "Christians".

The publications seem to contradict themselves at different times. Occasionally WT study articles will talk about how only the anointed make up this congregation and how they alone are "true Christians" and will even go so far as to label the Great Crowd as "fellow workers" or similar titles. But then in an article not so loaded with the "deeper knowledge" they will call all JWs "Christians", though sparingly so.

I've noticed that the word "Christian" is used in a way that most people reading the articles would consider themselves as "Christians". When you take into account the doctrine of mediatorship and the "true Christian congregation" however, one can see the sly way that the word "Christian" may only be applying to the anointed but not coming right out and saying it, thus keeping the uninformed non-anointed ignorant of the fact that they aren't included in this class.

My jw doesn't even understand the entire concept. He seems very confused to me about Jesus as his personal savior. He thinks it acceptable to go through other people (the org & the 144,000). I understand that is the borg brainwashing. He asks me where it says Jesus is the mediator for everybody, when I mention all the scripts and those that say 'whosoever' he still insist that is meant only for the apostles or first century Christians, something like that. I get confused about his answers because he answers differently sometimes. He says Jesus is the mediator for jw's because they use his name at the end of a prayer. I don't think he thinks that Christ's death upon the cross was for his personal sins. I guess that would be because he says he does not 'intentionally' sin. What the hell? jw's are not sinners like the rest of us because they 'try not to'? Somedays I think I have the insane doctrines of the wt worked out in my head then other days all I can do is shake my head.

I referred my JW to the book called 'World wide security'

Likewise, the Greater Moses, Jesus Christ, is not the Mediator between Jehovah God and all mankind. He is the Mediator between his heavenly Father, Jehovah God, and the nation of spiritual Israel, which is limited to only 144,000 members. This spiritual nation is like a little flock of Jehovah’s sheeplike ones

I was told the great crowd forms part of the 144,000.

Me:In that case all JW's should be able to partake at the memorial.

    JW:NO

Me: Do you actually beleive all this?

The mouth said 'yes' and the eyes said 'No, do I look like an idiot, you sure make me feel like I am'

My thought 'I feel good, Im getting there'

Yes, I knew it and, yes, it bothered me. I felt as though I was left out, exposed, without access to "god" in prayer. I never did reconcile it. It was one of those things you're supposed to take in faith but that doesn't help.

I think many in the congregation didn't realize that was a jw teaching.

I don't think most Witnesses know the official line on this, if called on it,

I don't accept it; frankly put, I think the FDS is wrong. I had the distinct joy of "correcting" a brother's answer in our bookstudy several months ago. He was going on and on about what Jesus has done for us and that he is a mediator for the whole world and especially us. This guy was on a roll, and he continued for about 3 minutes.

I answered that the official position of JW is that Jesus is NOT the mediator of the GC, only the annointed. I said that each person needed to go home and research the subject for themselves. It brought a little "life" to an otherwise boring meeting.
