I haven't seen the appeal of them personally. Rarely is anything we want to see out and the store is a short drive away from here.
As for blockbuster and their "return it or own it" I know a friend that ended up with 6 "free" xbox games and hasn't visited them since. They used to call our house twice a day because my boyfriend had a movie out late. And despite no late fees there are "restocking" fees when you return the damn movies anyway. A rose by any other name..

blockbuster supports censorship, so i don't ever rent or give money to a corporation who makes directors edit an nc-17 film into an r-rated version to get in their store b/c the art of cinema is compromised and the MPAA is a joke.

also, if you want more obscure films, greencine.com is pretty good....but they have longer turn arounds when renting.

my experience w/ netflix is completely different. they turn films over within a day and are completely on top of it if a disc is damaged or lost in the mail.
i've been with them for about two years and have never had a problem or delayed film.
and they don't support censorship like blockbuster does.

I love Blockbuster ! I always return my movies to the store and get two more movies. New movies arrive before I am done with the ones that I got at the store. It's awesome. Never had a problem with limits either. If I have a movie from the mail it counts as a coupon no matter how many times I do it. They have a great snack card too that is 6 bucks for thirty days of free snacks, 1 every time you go in to get a movie, limit once a day. Could be a great deal if you are there a few times a week.
